Flat track racing can be a lot of fun. Sending a motorcycle sideways by kicking its tail out on dirt is an exhilarating sensation, one that the Brits enjoy a fair bit. Bolton based bikemaker CCM has unveiled a tracker-styled, 600cc motorcycle it’s calling the Classic Tracker.
CCM has a history with flat track racing and the new Classic Tracker has been inspired by Stephane Mezard’s, 2021 French flat track championship-winning bike. In fact, the minimally styled Classic Tracker and the OG race bike share the same engine, frame and critical cycle parts too.
The Classic Tracker builds on CCM’s existing Street Tracker model which falls under its Spitfire range of bikes. It’s powered by a 600cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Your right wrist can extract a healthy 58Nm at as low as 5,500rpm for sliding around on dirt.
In fact, keeping to its FTR look, the motorcycle gets a scrambler-style flat handlebar and 19-inch rims shod with road-legal Mitas flattracking tyres. Depending on the model you choose, you can have the rims in either black or in gold finish. Completing the look is a semi-perforated single seat and a new twin exit exhaust with carbon fibre finishing on the end caps.
The tracker gets a Tig welded steel frame and weighs just 145kg (dry). To put this into perspective, the Honda CB300R weighs 146kg (kerb). Suspension on the Classic Tracker is fully adjustable at both ends but offers only 120mm of travel. It gets J Juan Black Edition brakes. The 320mm front disc is pinched by 4-piston, radial brake calipers and the rear disc is 240mm in size.
The Classic tracker will be available in two variants and prices start at GBP 10,695 (roughly Rs 10.20 lakh) for base variant, while the Infinity package costs GBP 11,495(roughly Rs 10.96 lakh). Unfortunately, CCM is not present in India and hence, the Classic Tracker may never reach our shores. However, not too long ago, Royal Enfield tried its hand at flat track racing with a modified Himalayan to promote the sport in India. If you’re looking to buy a road-legal flat-track-inspired motorcycle in India, take a look at the Indian FTR 1200.
