We at ZigWheels rode down to India Bike Week 2024 at Vagator Goa, and it was one of the best events for us motorcycle enthusiasts. In this article, we will be sharing our experiences and also share 5 reasons why you cannot miss IBW.
One of the best things about India Bike Week is the ride down to Goa. Getting a chance to ride from your city to Goa is one of the best experiences you can have on a motorcycle. We at ZigWheels travelled to Vagator all the way from Pune, a modest journey of 500km. But what made this small trip amazing was the ride through Anuskura Ghat.
The twists and turns of Anuskura were some of the most thrilling roads we rode through this year. Our team took a variety of bikes to IBW, from an ADV to supersports. I personally rode a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. As someone who hasn’t really ridden ADVs on long trips before this was a really interesting experience.
The others in the team rode a TVS Apache RR 310, a Triumph Speed T4 and also a Royal Enfield Bear 650. All had a really good time riding their respective bikes. But the best part about the ride was the opportunity we got to have some team bonding time.
Riding down to IBW also gave us an opportunity to meet riders from different parts of the country. We got to meet many members of the community, who all came to Goa riding different kinds of bikes.
During the ride down to Goa, having the opportunity to ride with them in some cases was quite an experience. There were some really experienced riders who have been attending India Bike Week for years now. There were also others who have just started out their biking journey.
Having an opportunity to meet such a diverse group of bikers really gave us a glimpse into what India’s biking culture truly is. In many ways it expanded our horizons beyond our usual friends and city-level riding groups.
When you have a large gathering of bikers, racing is something which comes naturally. To meet this need for speed, the organizers of IBW hosted some races. One of the most interesting races was the Harley-Davidson X440 Flat Track race.
What made the competition really appealing was the fact that the first prize was a check of Rs 10,00,000! We at ZigWheels also got a chance to participate in the media race against other journalists.
The race was really enjoyable and a big learning experience. We will be giving a detailed breakdown of the experience and what we got to learn from it, soon.
After such a long ride, there’s nothing better than the opportunity to chill with friends and like-minded people. India Bike Week really does bring all of us riders together in that sense.
Hanging around at the IBW venue talking to other bikes, watching the new unveils and launches is fun. But for people who want something outside biking, there are a lot of things to keep you engaged. From fun games like a pull up challenge where you can win merch to concerts and more.
India Bike Week really has a lot to offer and is definitely worth visiting at least once if you are a bike enthusiast.
The organizers of India Bike Week also had another interesting surprise for us. They are now planning on expanding into the car scene by organizing a new festival for car enthusiasts. It will be called Generation Speed, and will be similar to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It will be organized in February 2025, with the first one being held during the first weekend of that month in Amby Valley on the outskirts of Pune. After that, Generation Speed will be held in the third week of February from then on.
But one thing is for sure, Generation Speed will not be restricted to one place. The festival could move around a bit from major cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur. So if you are someone who shares a similar level of enthusiasm for cars and bikes, then you have something to look forward to.
