May feature 17-inch wheels with dual-purpose tyres and premium mechanicals.
A full-digital instrument console with rider aids could be on the cards too.
Expect to see the pre-production model at EICMA 2020-21.
Just like its parent company, KTM, Swedish bike maker Husqvarna has been expanding its portfolio over the past couple of years. From entry-level Huskies, motocross and supermotos to bigger, more powerful singles, the Husqvarna range has it all. It also unveiled the neo-retro Norden 901 Adventure based on KTM’s parallel-twin platform at EICMA 2019, which received a tremendous response from enthusiasts. And what better way to further exploit this platform than introduce a bigger, meaner Svartpilen 901. The bike has been spotted testing overseas and gives us a glimpse into the company’s future plans.
The biggest giveaway is its ergonomics and design. Though the bike features minimal bodywork, it seems to get well-cushioned seats, tall handlebars, and rear-set footpegs for an upright riding posture. It even has a smaller windscreen for wind deflection which may be part of the accessory catalogue. The exposed engine gives us a peek at the parallel-twin motor borrowed from the 890 Duke which is rated for 121PS and 99Nm.

Expect the engine to be accompanied by a bunch of electronic rider aids, all of which could be controlled via its full-digital instrument console. Other notable features include LED lights all around.
The bikes hardware could be shared with the KTM 890 Duke too. So we could expect the Svartpilen to come with fully-adjustable WP upside forks and a monoshock. Same goes for the braking configuration -- twin disc brakes up front and a single disc at the rear likely to be clamped by Brembo calipers. It’s 17-inch spoked wheels, on the other hand, could be borrowed from the Svartpilen 701
We reckon Husqvarna may launch Svartpilen 901 or at least a pre-production model at EICMA 2020. But considering the current COVID-19 situation, this could be pushed to 2021.
