It seems Mahindra Two Wheelers second offering in the commuter segment has stuck a chord with the consumers as the company reported that it has received over 30,000 bookings for the Centuro. Further more, all the bookings has come within six weeks of its launch which would please Mahindra more as it hadn’t received the same amount of success when it had entered the commuter segment with the Stallio few years back.
The Centuro is loaded with features that are not present even in premium segment bikes in the country such as central locking, anti-theft system with an engine immobiliser and remote 128-bit encrypted flip-key with LED lights. Apart from these features it also employs find me lights to locate the bike in crowded parking lots and guide lamps that continues to illuminate as one walks away from the bike after parking. Speaking about the bookings, Anoop Mathur President – Two Wheeler Sector said, “The fantastic response we have received for the Centuro, especially in today’s challenging market environment, is testimony to its strong value proposition and appeal amongst consumers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for the faith they have shown in the brand and assure them that we will meet this demand in the shortest time frame possible.”
The features on the motorcycle seems to be the key in the Centuro’s success as it is the first bike in the segment to provide these offerings which are usually associated with bikes of the higher segment. The bike has been designed in-house by Mahindra at their R&D centre in Pune. Mahindra has also offered 5-year warranty on the Centuro, making it the second two-wheeler manufacturer to give warranty of such an extended period after Hero MotoCorp.
At Rs. 45,000, the Centuro is all set to go up against the Hero Passion Pro which starts at Rs. 45,850 for the spoke/kick Variant and the Honda Dream Yuga with starts at Rs. 45,101. Note: all prices mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi.
