Now in its twentieth year, Mercedes-Benz’s SLK Class has spawned the new SLC compact luxury roadster that is on display at the ongoing 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The SLC, owing to its close relationship with the C-Class, also understandably derives its roadster technology from the same. It also depicts the modern design philosophy which can be seen in the new models like C-Class, E-Class, S-Class and GLE.

The new Mercedes-Benz SLC receives the diamond grille treatment with a triangular shaped bonnet complementing its roadster character. Above the striking air-intakes, the SLC comes with optional LED intelligent light system which has LED daytime running lights integrated in the headlamp units. The LED treatment continues to the tail lights also which are now sleeker and divided horizontally.

Moving to the interiors, adorning the centre console is a large 7 inch display which replaces the previous 5.8 inch screen from the previous generation. The upholstery uses perforated leather in certain areas and buyers has an option to choose from two new colour options – saddle brown and platinum white. The hard top of the SLC continues to feature the panoramic vario-roof in which the roof glass can be lightened or darkened with the press of a button.
