In an attempt to expand its product portfolio, Nissan will soon bring in the massive Patrol SUV to Indian shores. The Nissan Patrol will make its way to the India market via the CBU route and will go up against the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser.

The Nissan Patrol sports a 5.6-litre V8 unit that pumps 400 horses and 559Nm of torque. Based on a ladder frame, the Nissan Patrol comes mated to three different gearbox options, a 7-speed auto transmission with manual mode, a 5-speed automatic gearbox with manual mode and a 6-speed manual transmission.

To ensure that the Patrol is an able off-roader Nissan has fitted it with all the bells and whistles including a full-time 4WD system, Hill Start Assist, Hill Decent Control and big 18-inch alloy wheels. As far as safety is concerned, the Nissan Patrol comes equipped with Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist as standard equipment. The top-end trim also gets Crash Sensitive Automatic Unlock System, Automatic Hazard Lighting System and more.

The Nissan Patrol shares a lot of its parts with the Infiniti QX80 and its interiors are a lot premium and better looking than its rivals. That said, considering that it will come to India as a CBU, with the Rs 1 crore price tag that it will demand, it might even be compared with some luxury SUVs. Nissan hasn’t really had the kind of success with its CBU models as it would have liked in the past, but the Nissan Patrol might just be an exception keeping in mind its off-road capabilities.
