Kia Syros teased again ahead of its December 19 debut.
It is expected to sit between the Sonet and Seltos.
Will sport vertical lighting elements at the front and sleek L-shaped LED taillights at the rear
Confirmed to get a panoramic sunroof and vertical lighting elements from the teasers.
It could retain the Sonet’s petrol and diesel engine options.
Kia is all set to enter a brand new nameplate in the Indian SUV space. Called the Syros, the latest Korean SUV is expected to sit between the existing Sonet and Seltos nameplates, while carrying design cues borrowed from the flagship EV9 electric SUV. The teaser campaign is in full flow as the latest one has revealed a prominent styling cue of the SUV’s rear. Let’s take a look at what it’s all about:
Kia had already teased the squared proportion of the Syros by revealing a picture of its silhouette.
The earlier teasers had also confirmed a chunky front with vertically stacked headlights, but the latest one draws some light to the rear design, which seems to carry the same boxy outlines. But the most significant reveal is the sleek L-shaped tail light mounted on the upper half of the rear, outlining the windowline from the sides.
Kia’s press release said there will be similarities with the bigger Carnival and EV9, and we can spot a few of their cues in the Syros’ teasers. More details on this as Kia will continue to tease the SUV until its reveal.
While the interior hasn’t been teased, Kia did confirm the presence of a panoramic sunroof, while previous spy shots showcased the presence of a sporty-looking 2-spoke steering wheel.
We reckon the features list should be more or less similar to the Sonet, and the highlights could include dual digital screens, auto AC, ventilated front seats, powered seats, a wireless phone charger, 6 standard airbags, and ADAS.
Given that it is expected to sit between the Sonet and Seltos, we reckon the SUVs to share the same powertrains as well, which could include all of the Sonet’s options.

Kia could price the Syros from around the Rs 9 lakh mark (ex-showroom) and it will not have any direct competitors as such.
But at its price point, it will go up against such sub-4 metre and compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon / Curvv, Hyundai Venue / Creta, Maruti Brezza / Grand Vitara and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
