The Bullet for the Modern World
- The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 has been one of the most iconic models from the Chennai-based manufacturer for decades. And in 2023, the bike maker updated the retro roadster with the J-series engine and other upgrades making it more suitable for the modern world.
-
Classy retro styling
- The iconic Bullet 350 design carries on, giving the bike a muscular road presence
- Top portion of the rear fender is less boxy in the J-series Bullet and the tail light has been redesigned
- These changes make the bike look modern while still retaining the retro charm
- The pinstripes on the tank and the side panel make the bike look quite premium
- The design can look very similar to that of the Classic 350 for some people though
-
Refined retro performance
- The J-series feels much more refined than the UC engine in the previous model
- Has ample low-end and mid-range torque, making low-speed riding very easy
- Great for commuting in the city or cruising on the highway in a relaxed manner
- Smooth gear changes and light clutch lever action
- Vibrations can be felt slightly on the footpegs and the handlebar at speeds above the 60kmph
-
Decent Handler
- The Bullet 350 feels very well balanced and not that heavy (despite the 194kg kerb weight) on the move
- Manoeuvring through city traffic and making quick directions is fairly easy on the bike
- Brakes lack initial bite and stopping power could’ve been better. Feedback from the lever is decent though
-
A comfy ride for the most part
- The suspension soaks up bumps and potholes very well and the overall riding experience is comfortable
- The rear suspensions setup is on the firmer side, so bumps can be felt when ridden over them at high speeds
-
Comfy riding posture
- The Bullet 350 has an upright riding posture with an easy to reach handlebar and mid-set footpegs
- The rider seat is soft and plush, making it very comfortable for commutes in the city
- But the soft seat can get taxing on long rides - the optional touring seat is a better option here
- The 194kg kerb weight can be felt while trying to move the bike around the parking
-
Adequate features list
- The features list is quite adequate for a retro roadster with the semi-digital instrument console
- The digital inset with fuel gauge is a great addition
- The layout around the console could’ve been better - it just gets a round RE logo on the right hand side
- The logo can be replaced by the optional Tripper navigation pod
-
Is the Bullet 350 worth buying?
- The J-series Royal Enfield Bullet 350 provides smooth and tractable performance, good handling capabilities, comfortable riding experience and a decent list of features
- But the Rs 1.73 lakh - Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom) price range is very similar to that of the Classic 350, which might confuse some potential buyers
