MG has introduced a new entry-level Sprint variant that drops the entry-level pricing of the Astor, which was previously at Rs 10.81 lakh (ex-showroom). At Rs 9.98 lakh, it’s Rs 1,000 more affordable than the Citroen C3 Aircross (Rs 9.99 lakh) to take position as the most affordable compact SUV in India.
As part of its model year update, the Astor comes packing new features such as ventilated front seats, an auto dimming IRVM, and a wireless phone charger. Also, the infotainment system has received a software update and now packs even more connected car tech features as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The rest of the features list is the same as the outgoing car, and you can read more about it in our in-depth first drive review.
No changes have been made underneath the hood. The Astor continues to offer a 110PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 140PS 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine options. The former is paired with a 5-speed manual and a CVT, while the latter can be had with a six-speed torque converter automatic.
The MG Astor locks horns with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and soon-to-be-launched 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift.
