Small in size, yet dynamic in personality, the most economical family car on Indian roads today, has received much acclaim not just in a price sensitive market like India but also in Europe and other Asian markets, where its brilliant engineering despite its modest proportions makes it a prized possession for all its owners.
Having sold several lakh units since being introduced in India in 2009, Tata Motors has now expanded the reach of this little wonder car to our Sri Lankan neighbours, making it the car with the smallest exterior footprint in the region.
Coming with the standard 2-cylinder aluminium MPFI 624 cc petrol engine mated to a four-speed gear box, the car will now be available in Sri Lanka in three variants, the basic Nano Standard model and the more comfortable and loaded models, like the CX and the LX versions.
Performance attributes of the Nano are expected to be identical to the ones being sold here in India, like its outstanding mileage of 23.6 km/litre, the highest for any petrol car in Sri Lanka.
In Sri Lanka, the new Tata Nano is priced at LKR 9,25,000 lakhs for the Tata Nano Standard, LKR 9,99,000 lakhs for the Tata Nano CX and LKR 11,00,000 lakhs for the Tata Nano LX version. It will also come with a warranty of 4 years / 90,000 km, whichever is earlier and 24 hours on-road assistance service.
Apart from the Nano, Tata Motors has also launched 5 new commercial vehicles in the Sri Lankan market. The Tata Prima LPS 4928 tractor-trailor, Tata LPT 1618 truck and the Tata Super Ace are some of the models that Tata has now made available to the Sri Lankan commercial vehicle sector.
