After four years of successful existence, the Cheetah inspired Mahindra XUV500 has received its first major upgrade. The XUV500 facelift gets exterior and interior design upgrades, additional features and a new top of the line W10 variant which comes loaded with features.
Changes on the exterior include a new grille with chrome highlights, similar to the new Mahindra Scorpio. The projector headlamp cluster of the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 has been changed to appear more modern and now sport a distinct S-line and cornering light feature. Also new is a more muscular bonnet and bolder front bumper with a new skid plate. The new chrome-lined, L-shaped fog lights replace the older circular ones, and are positioned higher than before.
On the side the New Age Mahindra XUV500 gets chunkier door handles, a chrome shoulder line and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Few changes at the back include a bolder chrome garnish over the registration plate.
Inside there's a more premium looking black and beige dashboard. While the twin-cluster driver's display now gets icy blue illumination. In fact there is also icy blue lounge lighting on the ceiling. There no change in the design of the centre console but it now comes with better looking matt metallic grey accent. Then there are aluminium scuff plates on the door sills and sporty aluminium accelerator, clutch, brake pedals.
The new W10 variant of the New Age Mahindra XUV500 is packed till the brim with features including an electric sunroof, keyless entry and push button start. Replacing the older 6.2-inch display is a new 7-inch touch screen with 3D navigation and Mahindra's Blue Sense app. Other features include a much needed rear camera with dynamic assist and 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat.
Although Mahindra hasn't change the 2.2-litre M-hawk diesel engine, the engineers have tweaked it to improved final drive ratio for better performance and fuel efficiency. Mahindra now claims that the New Age Mahindra XUV500 returns an ARAI certified 16km per litre. It isn't just better looking but is said to be dynamically improved too, with readjusted shock absorbers and latest Electronic Stability Programme (ESP 9) with rollover mitigation to improve ride and handling.
