KTM Adventure 390 Spied for the First Time: The cat is finally out of the bag as KTM's upcoming budget adventure motorcycle has been spotted. The bike is expected to reach our shores in early 2018. Before I discuss what it brings to the table, do have a look at the bike: PC: Cycle World Going by these images, the bike exudes a purposeful feel. The front gets a beefed up, long travel front inverted forks, off-road fender, projector lights and a tall windscreen. The handlebar is also protected by knuckle-guards. The body panels seem to be minimal, with only a quarter fairing to cover up the triple clamp and radiator section. The instrument cluster seems to be mounted really high. I expect the bike to come with a unit that is similar to the 2017 390 Duke. The engine gets a bash-plate to protect the underbody while taking the path less trodden. The raised exhaust will also make the bike wade through the water effortlessly. The seat seems to be a single piece unit, which is ideal for moving about while riding on rough terrains. The rear monoshock is likely to offer more travel than the Duke and the swingarm has also been strengthened. The upright riding position looks similar to the Himalayan. Braking is done by Brembo petal discs but the Indian version is likely to have Bybre units. The spoke wheels are shod with off-road tyres and the bigger sized front rim could help tackle bumps effectively. Indicators are sleek LED units, just like the ones found in the Duke. I feel the overall design is a tasteful amalgamation of KTM's Enduro and Adventure bikes. I think this bike will be the perfect adventure tourer for a country like India. The engine is expected to be tuned more for off-road riding and the gearing is expected to be different too. By the time this bike is launched, it is likely to compete with the likes of BMW G 310 GS, Kawasaki Versys- X300, and of course, the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Another video has surfaced and this time, it is walkaround video, courtesy Burn N Run. The video shows the new exhaust layout and a redesigned instrument console. The additional buttons hint at multiple riding modes and the headlamp looks like LED unit. The tyres are apparently Michelin Pilot Street Radials. A video of the camouflaged 2017 Duke being tested out on the highways has emerged. The guy taking the video asks the rider if that's a Duke and he nods 'yes'. What's unnerving to me is that the test rider is not wearing any knee-pads or gloves, which is kinda weird as company test riders are usually fully geared. Here's the video by Konvicted Rider: As you can see, the new Duke gets a traditional side-mounted can to adhere to the future emission norms. The bike is also likely to come with a ride-by-wire throttle, a slight bump in power and more refinement by means of a counterbalancer.
