Roshun - Yes, 3 of us took turns on wheels. One was always Driving, other was Navigating and 3rd was resting - shhhhh plsssss :) Hope you agree, one can never attempt such expeditions - adhering to speed limits. - No FastTags, no VIP passages at any of the 99 Tolls. Time spent at most of the points was from 3 mins to 10+ mins.

The Roadographer That is a fantastic achievement! Were you the only one driving or did all three of you take turns in driving? What were your speeds like? Because on certain legs you averaged over 89-90 kmph, which means you would have really had to push it to keep that kind of average speed. And what was your experience at toll booths - how did you manage to save time there?

To me, Roads are my Temples and Motoring – Another way of Worship. In June’14, Failed miserably in an attempt to register a Guinness Record but could gather pleasant memories for lifetime with my family (Wife & Daughter). Few of you must have read my other travelogue on the same – An Unpleasant Pleasant Journey (https://www.zigwheels.com/forum/post...-states-19d-9k) in this Forum itself. The urge was/is still ON... ...and understood very well that such expeditions are NOT feasible with family unless you have plenty of time in hand. Again in June’15, discussed the idea to Raid GQ in fastest time with 2 friends (Karan Vaid and Gopal Krishan Sharma) who cheerfully agreed in no time and started the hunt for 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Driver. 3 of us got dejected by 5+ other Champs who called us crazy, 2 agreed but backed out in next few days. And then a concall with #TheHumanGPS – Mr HV Kumar, who mentored this expedition, did wash our brains and now we 3 were good to go !!! The task : To beat 79 Hours and 28 mins Mentor : HV Kumar Our Team : HVK (Virtually with us Over Phone thru Voice Calls & Whatsapp who kept us motivating & guiding us on our progress on hourly basis), myself, Gopal Krishan Sharma and Karan Vaid. Target Taken : 70 Hours and accordingly, HVK did prepare a very detailed route plan viz, tolls locations, gas stations, rest-room facilities, Dhabas enroute etc. Highlights :-

GQ – Golden Quadrilateral – Highways that connects Delhi-Kolkata-Chennai-Mumbai-Delhi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden...ateral#Records)
Self-sponsored expedition – by 3 of us.
Car : Ecosport Titanium (O)
Drive Theme : “Save The Girl Child”
Previous Record - 79 Hours and 28 mins (in 2013, by Bhaskar Mandapaka and Prabhakar AVR of Hyderabad)
Route taken & dates : Delhi (Ashram Chowk) at 4.22am on 12[SUP]th[/SUP] Sept’15 for Kolkata – Chennai – Mumbai – Delhi (Ashram Chowk) at 8.41 am on 15[SUP]th[/SUP] Sept’15.
This was a non-stop continuous 5907.5 KMs drive and it took us 76 Hours and 19 minutes to circumnavigate GQ.
Crossed 99 Tolls, re-fueled 11 times and had only One Major meal at Chennai outside the Car.
Pre-Drive Preparations :-

So we settled for 3 drivers for this expedition & started debating the machine to be used. The choice was among a Ford Ecosport-O (~42k on Odo, 2014 Model) & a Scorpio (~1.5 L, 2010 one). The third option was an Alto but was never discussed. Unanimously, my Ecosport was picked up for this Drive, keeping in view security of all 3 of us as the machine is loaded with 6 Airbags, ABS & was comparatively new in the mentioned lot.
The Car was taken to Ford ASC, Vasant Kunj, got it thoroughly checked & serviced, Brake pads (though wasn’t required) were changed.
This being a FWD, the front 2 legs were also changed to new V-Groove ones to cope up with High Speeds – at Sec-10 Noida.
The rear 2 were changed recently (due to major cut in one) and were good to roll.
Rest was the Stock machine, to repeat, no modifications.
The Relevant stickers were pasted all over the machine viz, Delhi-Kolkata-Chennai-Mumbai-Delhi, Save The Girl Child. Since Gopal is a Ex-Air Force Man, did paste Air Force as well on both Front & Rear screens to avoid unnecessary harassment by anyone enroute.
An evening prior the expedition, All other Essentials and Desirables (https://www.zigwheels.com/forum/post...or-a-road-trip) were also loaded in Car alongwith lot many eatables, Normal & Coconut water, Red Bull etc.
Meanwhile, was in regular touch with Limca office who did give us a Target of 79 Hrs 28 mins (the previous LBR). We 3, as per their rules & formats, did submit the individual undertakings on Stamp Papers.
LBR gives you flexibility of starting towards East or downwards West, HVK decided & advised us to head towards Kolkata first.
Gopal, from Zirakpur (PB) reached my home at Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi on 11[SUP]th[/SUP] late evening and Karan – the next day very early morning from Surya Nagar, Ghaziabad.
