Brice | 6 years agoAaniyadav59 Hi, Hyundai Verna is the best choice than, if you want it to be last long. Also price range surely meet your expectations. Used Car may also be a better option as there are a lot of good conditioned cars are available. Thanks & Regards!
Gowtham | 6 years agoPradeep_Balu you people going huge mistake here. Vento is the safest vehicle among the three. The build quality and Safety is offered from base varient itself for vento. Ciaz is poor in safety, it's lightweight and Verna is moderate in safety. Also VM concentrate on safety and quality more than design and cosmetics.
Orange | 6 years agoThe Honda City has been the most famous car that is running on the Indian roads and the car is in its fourth generation in the country. With the new updates that the sedan got in the year 2017, with all the new equipment that was added to this Honda car, it looks forward to regaining its top spot in the term of sale in sedans. Check Used Honda City Mileage Technical Specifications- Mileage - 25.6 Kmpl Engine Displacement - 1498 Cc Engine Description - 1.5-litre 98.6bhp 16V I DTEC Diesel Engine Max Bhp - 98.6bhp@3600rpm Max Torque - 200Nm@1750rpm Gearbox - 6 Speed
Anurag | 6 years agoOut of Verna or ciaz or Honda city which is great value for money overall?
Dheepak | 7 years agoI'm confused between 2017 city zx diesel manual and the new vento diesel variant.....which should I prefer....After taking a test drive , I personally feel that vento engine is way smoother than city.... But city interiors are far better than vento.... And city is spacious compared to vento.... I also heard that city diesel is not the best engine and is underpowered......so which one should I choose!
Melvil | 7 years agoNikilSJ Vento is much stable on highways and a much driver's car. Honda city is much more practical car loaded with features and good service network.
Nikil | 7 years agoSas13691, the Volkswagen Vento TDI has got a 1.5-litre diesel engine. While the engine is good in terms of driveability and efficiency, it does sound a little gruff from the outside. Considering the recent diesel ban in Delhi NCR and other states, I would suggest you stick to a petrol car.
Jijo | 7 years agoSas13691 If your monthly run is less than 2,000 kilometre, it's better to stick to a petrol car. Plus the Honda City is a well-built car that is spacious, feature rich and is fun-to-drive. Compared to Volkswagen, Honda cars have relatively lower maintenance costs and better resale value.
Nikil | 7 years agoSas13691, considering your needs and the inclination towards a petrol sedan, I would suggest you go for the Honda City. The facelift is just around the corner and is expected to come with added features too. CorsaVeloce has a petrol City with the CVT and it has met all his criteria so far. He should be able to help you out with this one. If it's a diesel you are looking for, I would choose the Volkswagen Vento or probably the Skoda Rapid (essentially the same car) over the others in a heartbeat. Do not even consider the Hyundai Verna, even if someone wants to gift you one. It's the lousiest handling sedan ever, IMO!
Jijo | 7 years agoSas13691 Consider your requirements, the Honda City will be a ideal pick in this segment. The 1.5 i-VTEC engine is a strong performer and is fuel-efficient too. The City also has good driving dynamics and the ride quality is really good. The City also gets a spacious cabin and comes loaded with features. The resale value for Honda cars is also quite good. Honda cars considered the safest around, with its advanced ACE body structure, which dissipates the force of impact across the passenger cabin, in turn giving its cars great crash test ratings.
Roshun | 7 years ago[QUOTE_NODE]"Originally posted by sas13691" Hi guys,I'm looking to buy a car among Volkswagen Vento, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. My priorities are performance, handling, suspension, safety, leg room, should be spacious and have a good resale value- exactly in that order.p.s - I'm more leaning towards a petrol one but if a diesel car is better than the best contender from petrol I'm definitely willing to consider it.(best of petrol vs best of diesel)Thanks a lot for your help, really appreciate it. [/QUOTE_NODE] That is an interesting comparison between the Vento, City and Verna. Given your priorities, and if you were to stick with a petrol car, I would recommend the Honda City as the best overall car among the three. The City with its 118PS, 1.5 litre petrol engine (and also with a 7-preset CVT automatic transmission) offers decent performance. Sure, the Verna is more powerful, but the City's handling is better. Secondly, interior space - the City has the most among the three. As far as suspension goes, the Vento would be better, but the City is not too bad either. Resale value of the Honda City (currently the segment best seller) is also good. It has a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, as does the Vento and Verna - so no issues there.
Roshun | 8 years agoIf fuel efficiency and an automatic transmission are important priorities, I would suggest taking a look at the Honda City CVT again. Being a petrol car your initial purchase cost is lower - and there won't be any uncertainties like is the case with diesel. Secondly, as I had mentioned earlier, being a CVT, you need to drive with a light foot and modulate your throttle inputs, so that it moves into a higher ratio much quicker. The claimed mileage of the Honda City CVT is 17 kmpl, but you will get about 12-13 kmpl in the city. In fact, CorsaVeloce has a City CVT and gets fairly decent mileage on it. Otherwise, if a diesel automatic is what you are looking for, you can look at the Vento automatic as discussed earlier. If you can go up the price ladder, you will find the Hyundai Creta with a diesel automatic option that's fairly decent. https://www.zigwheels.com/news-features/news/hyundai-creta-sx+-petrol-and-s+-diesel-to-get-automatic-transmission-variants/25228/ Sreenath_Sundaram
Roshun | 8 years ago
I was about to book a diesel auto transmission Vento, but with the ban on diesel cars in the capital, which might be extended to other states, is it advisable for a diesel car? I wanted an auto transmission, but heard that the Honda City auto has some lag and is not up to the mark. I liked the Vento diesel, but not sure of the change in policies that might happen on diesel. Any suggestions?
Frankly, I think you should wait and see what the future holds for diesel cars. There is so much uncertainty right now, that it probably is not really worth investing in a diesel. For one, I think the government is planning to allow registration for only 10 years for diesel cars. Petrol is still 15 years. Secondly, the price gap between diesel and petrol as a fuel will come down even further soon. Unless you drive a lot, it is not really worth buying a diesel. If you like the Vento, I would suggest looking at the 1.2 TSI petrol with the 7-speed DSG automatic. It's a really nice car to drive, with quick shifts. The Honda City has a CVT automatic, so if you drive it in full auto mode, it does feel like it takes too long to shift to the next gear. CVT transmissions tend to hold on to a particular ratio until you let up a little on the throttle and then they shift up. Of course, the City automatic also has paddle shifts, so that makes it easier. What exactly is your regular driving distance? If it's less than 1200 km a month, a petrol car makes sense.
JOY | 8 years agoSince you mentioned that you are keeping the cars for long,I am ruling out Volkswagen as it will be a pain in the you know where after 3 yrs(If you get a good car that is.But,if there is an issue from the start then it will ruin the ownership experience for you. They are brilliant cars to drive no doubt, but let down by the service support[in India at least]) Since thats done,The next 2 options are between the Honda and Maruti of which it is the Honda City which ticks most boxes than the Ciaz. The engine is more responsive and energetic(less turbo lag) in the city as well as the highways.Honda also has better resale than the Ciaz when you finally decide to sell it off.Verna is due for a model change next year so better to wait for the new model or leave it.If you think the city is overpriced and is on the look out for a worthy opponent from the Maruti stable, take a test drive of the S-Cross 1.6 Diesel. It does have its short comings like turbo lag,but when you do keep it in the turbo range,it will plaster a wide smile on your face. The estate like boot is more useable and the added ground clearance will help negotiating those bad roads and speed humps.Just take a test drive just to feel the car.Regards...
Ajinkya | 8 years agoCar guys would go for Vento. "Sparkling hai toh gold hai" people would go for Verna. No khitpit and "baajuwaale ne bhi liya toh accha hi hoga" would go for Ciaz. Back seat guys for whom a car badge is important would go for City.
Nikil | 8 years agoPradeep_Balu the only thing that I'm concerned about the Ciaz is the power it makes. If it had the larger 1.6-litre DDiS engine from the S-Cross, it would have been a proper sporty sedan. But otherwise it is a very spacious and luxurious car. The thing I like the most about the Ciaz is the width of the cabin. Three people can comfortably sit in the rear bench and there's loads of legroom as well. Here's a review of the Ciaz RS diesel with SHVS technology written by MotuSid.
Pradeep | 8 years agoOnly reason why I rejected Ciaz is for its power. Other than that I feel Ciaz is better in all the aspects. It's more of a practical vehicle. So the Ciaz makes a better choice. (EDIT: Pradeep_Balu's posts on the Problems with his new Hyundai Verna from this thread, have been moved HERE)
Roshun | 8 years ago
However, your idea that the Vento has not changed - let's agree to disagree... They may not have adopted a whole new design - but then you do not understand Volkswagen that well. If you could actually compare a 2010 model and a 2016 model - there would be a world of difference. Also this would kick the Ciaz's ***.
Come on, a world of a difference? To the untrained eye the cars look almost exactly alike. For that matter a Skoda Rapid and a Volkswagen Vento also can be easily mistaken for one another in profile and from the rear. Small tweaks to the headlamps, tail-lamps, grille and bumper do not make a "world of a difference". The body shell is exactly the same. The dashboard is exactly the same with just cosmetic touches of silver and chrome. The steering wheel is definitely an improvement. The engines used are also almost exactly the same. The 1.6 was downsized to a 1.5 litre diesel, by reducing bore sleeve size, but almost everything else is similar. I think the point Aaniyadav59 was making is that unlike the Honda City, the Vento hasn't evolved as much in six years.
Motu | 8 years agoI am not going to try changing your mind about your purchase decision - best of luck with the Ciaz Aaniyadav59. Do let us know about the buying process you go through and the ownership experience. We will help along whenever we can.
Actually, the Vento has the same interior and exterior since its launch
However, your idea that the Vento has not changed - let's agree to disagree They may not have adopted a whole new design - but then you do not understand Volkswagen that well. If you could actually compare a 2010 model and a 2016 model - there would be a world of difference. Also this would kick the Ciaz's ass. Anyway - congratulations again.
Roshun | 8 years ago
Roshun OK, then I should go with Maruti Ciaz. Thanx guys.
The Maruti Ciaz is a fairly decent all-rounder. You have the benefit of Maruti's vast service network. It's a spacious and fuel-efficient car with pretty nice interiors too. However, it is not performance oriented and is best used as a comfortable sedan to get from one point to another.
Aaniyadav59 | 8 years agoPradeep_Balu Oh, Ok. I can understand how it feels when you face these kind of problems with your new car. Then I think Ciaz is better.
Aaniyadav59 | 8 years agoRoshun OK, then I should go with Maruti Ciaz. Thanx guys.
Aaniyadav59 | 8 years agoMotuSid Actually, the Vento has the same interior and exterior since its launch. I mean there are no major changes. It is good, but I feel it has an old type interior. That is why.
Roshun | 8 years ago
Roshun OK, I agree with you, but I am thinking about Ciaz or Verna. So which is better according to you in diesel, for a long period?
If you want to choose between the Maruti Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna, considering your priorities are performance, mileage and good interiors, it is a fairly close call. The thing is, in outright performance, the 1.6 litre diesel Hyundai Verna is much quicker than the 1.3 litre Maruti Ciaz. The power difference between the two is huge. The Verna diesel puts out 126 PS of power compared to 90PS for the Maruti Ciaz. In terms of interiors though, the Ciaz is more spacious and also feels like a bigger car. And as for mileage, the Ciaz SHVS is currently the country's most fuel efficient diesel car with a claimed mileage of nearly 28 kmpl. In real world conditions too, you easily get over 20 kmpl with the Ciaz, while the Verna would give you only about 16 kmpl. At higher speeds too, the suspension on the Ciaz is better than the Verna. So if you are not an enthusiastic driver and are more inclined towards comfort and mileage, the Ciaz would be a better choice.
Parulverman | 8 years agoAaniyadav59 Go for the Honda City
Motu | 8 years ago
Simply put - Verna: better features, more powerful; Ciaz: more VFM, more economical, better ride and handling. Take your pick based on what your preferences are.
I second this opinion. One thing makes me curious - Why have you dropped the Vento from your comparison Aaniyadav59? it is (to me at least) a better choice according to your requirements than the Ciaz or the Verna.
Kaiserketkar | 8 years agoSimply put - Verna: better features, more powerful; Ciaz: more VFM, more economical, better ride and handling. Take your pick based on what your preferences are.
Vidit | 8 years agoIn the long term, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai offer great reliability as well as low costs of maintenance. The Ciaz has good space in the back seat, has better handling and is more efficient than the Verna. Although the 1.6 diesel engine of the Verna has more power than the 1.3 liter Ciaz engine, the car does feel planted at triple digit speeds.
Aaniyadav59 | 8 years agoRoshun OK, I agree with you, but I am thinking about Ciaz or Verna. So which is better according to you in diesel, for a long period?
Roshun | 8 years agoSince you are looking for performance as well as mileage, we can rule out the Ciaz, as it is more comfort and mileage oriented rather than for performance. Now between the Vento, Verna and City, all three are pretty good on the performance part. If you are looking at a petrol car, rule out the Vento petrol, as it is not as peppy as the City or Verna. Although the Verna has more power on paper compared to City, the City has a refined, yet sporty 1.5 litre ivtec petrol engine - which feels quicker and it handles better (with a better suspension) than the Verna. So if petrol is your choice pick the City. It is also more spacious and comfortable than the Verna. In diesel, the Verna again makes the most power (128PS) but handling is not that great. The City diesel is nice bit not quite refined - it's noisy. The Vento diesel may be low on power, but it is big on torque - 250 Nm compared to 200 Nm for the City. It also feels great to drive. A bonus, the Vento diesel also has the best automatic transmission in its segment. So, to sum up. Petrol - City. Diesel - Vento. Aaniyadav59 What are your thoughts?
Vidit | 8 years agoAaniyadav59, are you looking to buy a petrol or a diesel? That should be the first thing to be decided before deciding what car to buy.
Aaniyadav59 | 8 years agoI am planning for a car for a long term period, and confused as to which one is good in perfomance, mileage, interior and all between the Maruti Ciaz or Honda City or Volkswagen Vento or the Hyundai Verna. And which variant?
