Q.New Entry of E-bikes and Scooters

Hi to all these are the points which they have rightly said but I was keen on a hybrid petrol and electric as most of the time in peak hours we travel at 20 km and for all thefts we need more power and range pls consider that..

Thanks Arjun and Kaiserketkar for your valuable comments We have taken your comments to an extent of doing a extensive research on the failure of E-bikes and we had got exactly the same points to bridge this we have the following things taken into considerations - Battery - Earlier versions of E-bikes used Lead Acid batteries which are not compatible they had a long duration of charging and have a less distance to cover. To over come this we are bringing up bikes which have only Lithium batteries who have a longer life, faster charging and can cover a longer distance. - As the battery pack during replacing would cost up high we will try to come up with something which will be beneficiary for our clients for a long run - with the Lithium Batteries the charging time would drastically reduce and minimize the charging duration - For your concern of more charging points we will definitely look into the factors and come up with some solution before launching the bikes.

I had considered buying an e-bike as a strictly home-office-home commuter a few years back. However I dropped the idea because of some of the reasons mentioned by Arjun. There was one more- the economics. All the advertised xyz paise / km didn't mention the fact that it cost 7-9k for a new battery that ran about 7-10k kms [numbers might be a little off because this is from memory of a few years back] It boiled down to about a rupee per km added to the cost. Then consider the fact that e-bikes didn't have any resale value and the big question mark on the durability of the scooter- it didn't really make any sense in going for one.

Welcome to the forum. Its great to see that you are trying to enter the E-bikes segment, which is something we need with the present pollution scenario. Even though there are many products available in the market, still petrol engined scooters are more popular. The sales of Honda Activa alone shows that people still prefer petrol engines in the scooters. These are some of the reasons that come to my mind. 1. Low powered motors - Most e-bikes in India are of very low power. Manufacturers do this so that the riders do not need to register the scooter, buy an insurance policy or need to have a driving license for the scooter. However, most of the people who commute little longer distances would need more powerful scooters. A motor powerful enough to reach 60 kmph or higher and carry two people comfortably would attract many more customers. 2. Limited Range : The range of the electric scooters is very low and it does not satisfy the daily commuting needs of most customers. Also, as of now, charging points are not available in most commercial office's parking lots. This makes it important for the bike to have enough range to do a two way trip. I think a minimum of 60kms range is needed for a e-bike. A person would hesitate to use a bike with 50km of range for a 40km commute. A 60 km comfortable range (in all driving conditions) is a must have in my opinion. 3. Charging time : Most of the people cannot do an overnight charging. A lack of wall socket in the parking may be one of the reason. A fast charging option with a fast charger, with charging time of 1 hour could be a useful option. 4. Better quality : Over the years,we have seen many e-Bikes with very low quality body panels. Within a few years, most panels start rattling and get lose. Also, they have very little strength. The quality of body panels should match the scooters like Honda Dio or Honda Activa, which would make the scooters more durable. 5. Better battery life or cheaper battery pack : A major cost in e-Bikes is the battery pack, Most people are worried about the life of the battery pack,and the cost involved to replace it. Either a better stock battery pack with higher number of charging cycles, or a cheaper battery pack would help a lot to pull the public towards e-Bikes.

We need some help in regards to cover up a bridge of People want and the Product . Hi We are an upcoming company manufacturing E-bikes and E-scooters. We would like to have an earnest opinion on this forum. Our question to all the people out here is, If there is a New Electric Scooter and Bike to be introduced to Indian Market what factors needs to be considered by the manufacturing company to bridge the gap between the market and the product.
