Will wait till June and see if there is a middle variant with all major features under 3 lakhs. Also, what is your opinion about a 2010 Chevy Beat petrol which clocked 60k. As for Nano, heard lot of bad reviews about the car (people even mocking it as an Autorickshaw) like vibration and noise due to back engine, substandard build quality and extremely bad Tata service. Hence thought of investing the same money on a 5-year-old car which has better features and build quality.

[USER="1545"]Mahesh Mohan[/USER] I would advice against the Chevy Spark. The production for the spark has stopped and the car has been discontinued. If you are okay with going for a discontinued car, the a Santro Xing would be a better option, as it has a better service network and would have better spares availability due to the higher sales numbers. You may also get a much newer Santro Xing (2013-14 model) in your budget if you negotiate well. Of these cars, I feel the i10 is the best option. Hyundai engines are very reliable and they are also known to last thousands of kms without any issues. They are as reliable as the Marutis and have no issues with parts and availability as the same version is being still sold. Also, are you considering new cars? A Tata Nano GenX XE may come in your budget, and that will give you more peace of mind for a few years and is quite cheap to maintain also.

Right. Even I did not like the design of Spark much. Looks quite old. But what made me think against i10 (2008-2009 for 2.4-2.5 lakhs) is, I have heard from people that if you are going for an 8 year old vehicle, dont think beyond Maruti due to reliability. And a newer i10 (2010-2012 for 3.0-3.5 lakhs) is well ahead of my budget. After my rigorous search for few months, I realized that a good condition Alto (2008-2010) within my budget is difficult to find which is a suitable car for me due to lowest running and maintenance cost. So - given my budget (2.2 lakhs which can be streched maximum upto 2.5) what would be ideal choice: 1) 2008-2010 Alto lxi 2) 2007-2008 i10 1.2 Petrol 3) 2010-2012 Chevrolet Spark LT Or do you suggest any other car which falls under the same category. I am planning to use the car for next 2 years/25-30k km. Prime concerns are lowest maintenance cost and reliability.

The Chevrolet Spark is based on the Daewoo Matiz which is nearly two decades old. The i10 on the other hand is a more modern platform.
