BMW Motorrad has stepped into the cruiser segment to take on the likes of Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles with the launch of the R 18. The bike’s been designed to look like a low riding cruiser and takes its styling cues from the legendary R 5. It features a single-seat setup, teardrop-shaped fuel-tank, unique exhaust pipes and the swept-back handlebar that give it its unique look. Powering the bike is a massive 1,802cc boxer engine with an exposed shaft drive system that puts out 91.1PS of power and 158Nm of peak torque, with 150Nm available from as low as 2,000rpm. In terms of hardware, the bike comes equipped with a double-cradle frame suspended on an upside-down fork and a monoshock. And don't be fooled by the bike’s appearance, it's properly modern with electronic rider aids like traction control, three riding modes, hill-start control and even a reverse assist. Handy features on a bike that weighs 345kg.
