We have been eagerly anticipating having a go on the Hero Xtreme 160R. The bike made quite an impression on us when we took a short spin earlier this year at the Hero CIT and now that it is finally here we can answer some burning questions like how good is the ride, how quick is the bike and most importantly, can it bring the fight to the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V? The Xtreme 160R was launched at an attractive price of Rs 99,950 for the single-disc trim and Rs 1,03,500 for the twin-disc variant (ex-showroom Delhi), making it one of the most affordable bikes in the class. Hero dealers across the country have begun receiving the bike and deliveries of the new Xtreme 160R have commenced.
The Hero Xtreme 160R is a new bike that has been developed from scratch at the Hero CIT. The first indication of the new bike was given at EICMA 2019 when Hero showed off the Xtreme 1.R Concept and we are glad to see that there is very little deviation from the concept design. It looks sharp and compact. The Xtreme is powered by a 163cc single-cylinder air-cooled two-valve engine that produces 15.23PS and 14Nm. Hero’s newest engine is the most powerful one amongst the two-valve lot, only the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 make more power.
