The unveil of Ultraviolette’s sporty F77 electric motorcycle doubled the attention and excitement around electric two-wheelers in India. Could it be your next bike? Could it really be properly fast? Could it really be light and sporty? Is it for real? While the F77 will go on sale in October 2020, we got a chance to experience the F77 at a race track and sample it for ourselves.
Ultraviolette had all three colour options Lightning (silver), Shadow (grey) and Laser (red) on display there. While we couldn’t test the 130-150km of claimed range, we were able to assess the F77’s handling and performance abilities. The F77 uses a 25kW permanent magnet DC motor and 4.2kWh Lithium-Ion batteries.
The comany claims 0-60kph in 2.9 seconds and 0-100 in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 145kph. This puts it in the league of TVS’s Apache RR310. In terms of the chassis there are many similarities between the F77 and KTM’s RC390’s and this makes it a promising motorcycle on paper. But, what does it actually feel like to ride?
