The 2020 Auto Expo is going to be a rather small affair, with just two manufacturers making an appearance - namely Suzuki Two-Wheelers and Piaggio. Piaggio will have both their key brand on display, Vespa and Aprilia. Vespa and Aprilia became one of the first manufacturers to shift their entire BS4-compliant two-wheelers to BS6. The Italian manufacturer has not given any new features to its BS6 lineup. Moreover, it has increased the price of its entire product portfolio by around Rs 18,000! This BS6 Vespa range - all the 125s and 150s, will be present at Piaggio’s Expo stall. We’ve also heard that Vespa is working on an India-specific scooter, which we believe could make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo. Considering that BS6 models have received a huge price hike, Vespa needs something affordable in its portfolio. Presumably, Vespa might bring in a premium 110cc scooter to rival the likes of Honda, TVS, Suzuki, and Hero.
Similarly, Aprilia too will be showing off their BS6-updated scooters at Auto Expo 2020. Again, apart from getting fuel injection, the SR 125 scooter hasn’t changed much from its BS4 counterparts. The SR 150, on the other hand, has not only received FI, but it has also got a bump in cubic capacity, making it the most powerful scooter in India at the moment. The surprise element from Aprilia may come in the form of new 250-300cc bikes. Aprilia’s Managing Director Diego Graffi revealed these bikes are currently being worked on but may take some time to be launched in India. For now, we could expect the company to showcase at least pre-production models of the bikes which are most likely to bear the RS and Tuono moniker. And the big daddy, the RSV4 1100 Factory is also expected to make its India debut at Auto Expo 2020.
