The Tata Harrier is the new kid on the block and takes on a smaller SUV with a bigger reputation, the Hyundai Creta. It also undercuts the Jeep Compass in pricing, creating a unique dilemma. If you had your sights on the Creta should you choose this to get a more authentic SUV experience and if you were eyeing the Jeep Compass, is the Harrier a compromise to save your money?
All these SUVs have been compared in their diesel manual avatars. While Creta is available with petrol & diesel engines, both with manual and automatic transmissions, the Jeep Compass is offered with a petrol manual, diesel manual and petrol automatic. The Compass is also the only SUV to offer 4x4, while the diesel automatic is expected at a later stage. The Tata Harrier, on the other hand, is only available with a diesel manual powertrain but will be offered with 4x4, a diesel automatic, petrol manual and petrol automatic eventually.
Prices currently range between Rs 12.69 lakh - Rs 16.25 lakh for the Tata Harrier, Rs 9.60 lakh - Rs 15.63 lakh for the Hyundai Creta & Rs 15.40 lakh - 22.90 lakh for the Jeep Compass, across their respective variant ranges.
