Hero eMaestro

The Hero eMaestro Concept electric scooter was spotted at the company’s R&D facility in Jaipur. It is based on its petrol-powered sibling, the Hero Maestro Edge 125. The scooter is powered by a permanent magnet motor connected to a lithium ion battery pack.

Notable features of the scooter include an LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, digital instrument cluster with cloud connectivity and an old-school style neutral, drive and reverse mode toggle integrated into the left handlebar. While the output figures of the electric motor are unknown at the moment, expect it to offer performance levels similar to a 110cc petrol-powered scooter.

The scooter rides on alloy wheels on both ends with tubeless tyres. Suspension bits include a telescopic front fork and a single rear shock absorber. It comes to a halt using drum brakes on both ends with CBS.

The production version, likely to be called Hero eMaestro, is expected to be launched in mid-2020 if the coronavirus pandemic situation dies down and things go back to normal. It is likely to be priced at around Rs 1 lakh and will compete against the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter and the TVS iQube Electric scooter.
