Tell Me About The Honda Amaze’s Looks!
- The Honda Amaze looks more mature and has its cleanest design yet!
- While its sub-4 metre length is compact, the styling does look balanced
- LED projector headlights, LED DRLs and LED tail lights are offered even with the base model!
- The front design takes inspiration from the Elevate SUV while the rear end looks similar to the Honda City, which adds a premium touch
- 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels in the ZX variant look very classy!
- 172mm of ground clearance is good to handle most speed breakers or bad roads
- Good range of colour options available. Besides the traditional white, grey and silver, you also get red, blue and brown paint shades
- While the Amaze will appeal to those who like subtle styling, the new Dzire’s design is more attention grabbing
- 185/60 tyres look a little skinny even under this compact car
-
What’s The Honda Amaze Like Inside?
- The Amaze’s new interior looks very similar to the Elevate SUV’s
- While there are only hard plastics everywhere, the fitment quality is good
- Beige and black interior makes the cabin feel spacious and look premium
- The use of piano black and silver is tasteful and is complemented by good quality steering mounted controls and AC toggles
- The quality of plastics is just acceptable and they look a lot more premium than they feel
- Honda should’ve included a leather-wrapped steering and leatherette seats
-
Is It Spacious?
- Users up to 5.8-5.10ft in height will find the cabin to be perfect, offering plenty of the knee room, head room and shoulder room
- Storage spaces in the cabin are well designed, including large door pockets at the front and rear, along with 2 cup holders in both seat rows
- 416-litre boot space is very generous and can store one large suitcase and some soft bags easily or 4-5 cabin-sized trolley bags
- Drivers around or over 6ft tall or those who wear turbans will want better rear seat headroom
- Front seat travel is limited, making it less than ideal for drivers over 6ft in height
- Rear AC vents make seating a middle occupant less comfortable
-
What Features Does The Honda Amaze Offer?
- Honda has upgraded the AC performance. Besides offering auto AC with rear AC vents, the cooling performance is very impressive and effective even in hot and humid conditions
- The 7-inch driver’s display that comes as standard is tastefully executed and includes driving data like the range, fuel-efficiency, a g-meter, and can even be used to manage some ADAS functions
- The standard 8-inch touchscreen supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly. Its interface is easy enough to understand and response times are quick
- You get a smart-key with push-button start. In the automatic variants, the key can also be used to remotely start the car
- Other features: Auto headlamps, height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt-adjustable steering, rear armrest, wireless phone charger, 2 x 12V charging outlets and 2 x USB ports
- The touchcreen’s resolution is quite average and the lack of touch-feedback gets annoying especially when you’re driving
- The 6-speaker music system gets pretty loud, but the sound quality distorts quickly so it’s best to stick to low volumes
- No type-c charging ports available
- Front armrest not offered in any variant, though it can be fitted as an official accessory
-
What About The Amaze’s Safety Features?
- 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX and rear parking sensors come as standard
- The Amaze also gets rear-view camera and the left indicator-linked Lane-Watch camera
- Other features: Traction control, hill-start assist, emergency stop-signal
- All occupants get 3-point seatbeltsThe Amaze also offers advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, collision warning, auto-high beam assist, lead car departure notification and auto-emergency braking
- Adaptive cruise control can feel jerky or over-reactive in Indian driving conditions. It brakes too early and can irritate drivers behind you
- Rear camera and lane-watch camera offer average resolution and clarity
-
Will I Like Driving The Honda Amaze?
- The Amaze gets the same 1.2 litre petrol engine as before and is E20 compliant (can be driven with petrol blended with 20% ethanol)
- Producing 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque, this engine has a well-established reputation for reliability
- It’s a smooth engine to drive and will manage city commutes easily. If this is your first car, you’ll find it very comfortable to get used to
- Refinement is much better than the Maruti Dzire’s 3-cylinder petrol engine and vibrations are controlled better too
- A 5-speed manual transmission comes as standard with an optional CVT automatic.
- CVT is very smooth to drive, comes with paddle-shifters for added control and delivers a much more polished experience than the AMT (automated manual transmission) offered with the Dzire
- Claimed mileage stands at 19.46kmpl (CVT) and 18.65kmpl (manual)
- While performance is smooth, it lacks low-end performance and struggles with a full passenger load or on inclines
- Overtakes will make you feel the need to push the engine and even downshift a gear or two (in the manual)
-
Is It Fun To Drive?
- The Amaze is very easy to drive and convenient to maneuver in small lanes or cramped cities
- Thanks to a light clutch and smooth-shifting gear lever, even the manual makes driving in traffic convenient
- Steering can feel a little slow and heavy at very low speeds. Warrants a little more effort than necessary while parking or making quick u-turns
-
Is The Amaze Comfortable To Drive?
- The Amaze’s ride quality is tuned for comfort and bump absorption is good. Passengers are kept insulated well from bad roads
- Suspension noise is well-controlled as well and the experience is relaxing at low speeds
- Owing to the soft suspension setup, the car’s ride gets bouncy with a full passenger load or while driving at highway speeds
- Rear seat occupants especially, can get uncomfortable over bumpy concrete highways due to this nature
-
Who Should Buy The Honda Amaze?
- The Honda Amaze is a safe-bet for someone who wants a hassle-free small sedan mainly for using within the city
- It’s also a value for money package and you can get a complete car without having to stretch for the top-end ZX variant
- It is not an ideal car for users who are very tall.
- Performance with a high passenger load or at high speeds is average
Latest Updates on Amaze
Honda has launched the new generation 2024 Amaze in India. The Honda Amaze price ranges between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10.90 lakh (both ex-showroom). The carmaker offers the sedan in 3 variants across 6 colour options. Its design is a departure from the previous Honda Amaze facelift. The carmaker has given the Amaze a new look, including the Elevate-inspired front end and iconic wing-shaped LED rear lights.
Notably, this generation update has brought a range of new features to the Honda Amaze 2024, including the segment-first advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). However, what remains the same is its 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 90 PS and 110 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission.
