450X Key Highlights
Price: The Ather 450X is available in two variants, with 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh capacity batteries. The 2.9kWh variant is priced at Rs 1,40,599 and the 3.7kWh variant is priced at Rs 1,54,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including EMPS subsidy but not including state subsidy).
Design: The third-generation Ather 450X combines practicality with sporty aesthetics. Its design is characterised by an apron-mounted LED headlight and sleek body panels that seamlessly blend to create a cohesive look. The e-scooter boasts a flat floorboard that extends to the sides, serving as pillion footrests, which simplifies its construction with fewer moving parts. In its latest iteration, the 450X features an updated seat designed to enhance both rider and pillion comfort. Furthermore, the stylish LED tail lamp extends downward, incorporating turn signals at the rear, adding a unique touch to the scooter's appearance. It also introduces a redesigned switchgear for the instrument console, enhancing the overall user experience.
Features: The latest AtherStack 5.0 software update gets a lot of improvements for the third-generation Ather 450X, all accessible through its IP65-rated 7-inch colour-TFT touch-enabled console. The console has undergone a subtle layout redesign, now featuring a Bluetooth prompt and time readouts in the top-right corner, reminiscent of a mobile phone interface. It also incorporates various gesture functions to enhance user interaction. With the new firmware, the 450X enhances its navigation capabilities. While it already supported Google Maps, it now introduces '3D Vector' Maps, allowing for perspective changes similar to those in Android Auto for cars. Furthermore, the included trip planner is invaluable for planning stops, including charging stations, on long-distance journeys. The latest Over-The-Air (OTA) software update also includes two-wheeler-specific ride routes, enhanced live traffic indicators and improved GPS connection. The Ather 450X also introduces an Auto Hold (hill hold) function, which remains engaged until you tap the brakes to disengage it. The scooter features all-LED lighting and offers Bluetooth-enabled call and music controls. It comes equipped with integrated 4G LTE SIM connectivity and boasts 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage. It's worth noting that some of these features are part of the 'Pro-pack' and come at an additional cost. Without the Pro-pack, the 450X will have a black-and-white display and won't include the five riding modes: Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp.
Motor: The Ather 450X comes equipped with a PMS (Permanent Magnet Synchronous)) motor that delivers a nominal power of 3kW and can achieve a peak power output of 6.4kW, accompanied by a torque of 26Nm. These specifications result in the e-scooter claiming a top speed of 90kmph. The scooter offers two battery pack options: a 3.7kWh variant and a 2.9kWh variant. The 3.7kWh battery provides a certified range of 150km, while the 2.9kWh variant offers a certified range of 111km. Charging times for these variants vary, with the 3.7kWh battery requiring 5 hours and 45 minutes for a full charge, and the 2.9kWh variant necessitating 8 hours and 36 minutes to reach a full charge.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The Ather 450X gets an aluminum chassis with a suspension system that includes a telescopic front fork and a monoshock unit in the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by a 200mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc, both equipped with CBS (Combined Braking System) and regenerative braking as standard. This scooter rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels, sporting 90-section front and 100-section rear tubeless tyres. It maintains a ground clearance of 170mm and a seat height of 780mm. In terms of weight, the 3.7kWh variant has a kerb weight of 111.6kg, while the 2.9kWh variant weighs 108kg.
Rivals: The Ather 450X’s rivals are the Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, TVS X, TVS iQube Electric and Hero Vida V1, and the Simple One.
Range: The 2.9kWh variant of the 450X gets a true range of 90km when operating in SmartEco mode, while the 3.7kWh variant delivers a true range of 110km in the same SmartEco mode.
