About Bajaj
Latest Update on Bajaj Auto
2024 began with Bajaj bringing some updates in the form of a new instrument console for the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and Bajaj Pulsar N150. The new instrument console has brought features such as smartphone connectivity, Call & SMS alerts and other readouts like distance-to-empty (DTE) and instantaneous-fuel-efficiency (IFE). Bajaj’s electric scooter offering, the Bajaj Chetak was also updated with more range and features such as a full-colour TFT screen.
In 2023, Bajaj and Triumph entered the second phase of their partnership, and Bajaj took over all Triumph operations in India from April 01, 2023 onwards. Bajaj has also updated most of their lineup to be compliant with the new BS6.2 emission norms. Another notable update includes the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 getting an upside down fork and revised instrument cluster. The brand also resurrected some old models such as the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 cruiser and the once-discontinued Bajaj Pulsar 220F, the latter due to popular demand.
Origins
Bajaj Auto Limited is an Indian multinational two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturing company that was founded in 1945. The company was initially established as a trading company, importing and selling Vespa scooters in India under license from the Italian company Piaggio.
In 1959, Bajaj Auto began manufacturing scooters in India under its own brand name. The company's first scooter, the Bajaj Priya, was a huge success in the Indian market and was followed by other popular models like the Chetak and Super.
In the 1970s, Bajaj Auto expanded its product range to include motorcycles, introducing the Bajaj 150 and 175. These motorcycles were popular among Indian consumers, thanks to their affordability, reliability, and fuel efficiency.
In the years that followed, Bajaj Auto continued to innovate and expand its product lineup. In 1986, the company introduced the Bajaj Sunny, a scooter that was designed specifically for women. In 2002, Bajaj Auto launched the Pulsar, a sporty motorcycle that quickly became a bestseller in the Indian market.
Today, Bajaj Auto is one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in the world, with a wide range of motorcycles and scooters that are sold in India and in international markets. In recent years, the company has also focused on developing electric vehicles, launching the Chetak electric scooter in 2020.
In 2007, Bajaj and KTM joined hands in a strategic partnership between Bajaj Auto and KTM AG, with Bajaj Auto acquiring a 14.5% stake in KTM AG - a stake which later grew to 49.9%. The partnership has been highly successful, with the two companies collaborating on the development of new motorcycles and sharing technology and manufacturing expertise. Bajaj Auto manufactures KTM bikes in India and exports them to markets around the world, while KTM AG provides Bajaj Auto with access to its advanced technology and design capabilities. Today, the Bajaj-KTM tie-up is considered one of the most successful collaborations in the global motorcycle industry.
Bajaj entered a strategic partnership with Triumph Motorcycles UK to jointly develop and build mid-capacity motorcycles in 2020. In 2023, the second phase of this partnership kicked off where Bajaj took over Triumph’s operation in India for not just their co-developed bikes, but all of Triumph’s range.
Greatest Hits
Bajaj Chetak - the most popular scooter from Bajaj; had huge waiting lists that spanned years and recently resurrected as an electric scooter.
Bajaj KB100/ Bajaj KB125 - Built in collaboration with Kawasaki, these were Bajaj’s answer to the dominance of the Yamaha RX100/135 during the two-stroke era.
Bajaj Sunny - the first non-geared scooter with a 50cc engine; paved the way for many 16-year olds to get their first driving licenses.
Bajaj 4S Champion - a 100cc 4-stroke offering from Bajaj that provided buyers a reliable and super efficient alternative to the popular Hero Honda Splendor.
Bajaj Eliminator - another motorcycle made in collaboration with Kawasaki, the Eliminator became the first cruiser bike in India and later evolved into the Avenger series.
Bajaj Pulsar 150/ Bajaj Pulsar 180 - made to compete with the Hero Honda CBZ and TVS Fiero, the Pulsars offered high performance at an affordable price, truly giving “power to the people”. The Pulsars live on even today in many different variants.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F - when launched, it was a Karizma-killer and remains in production even now thanks to its cult following.

The Bajaj NS400Z is built on the Bajaj Dominar 400's perimeter frame and it shares the design language from the Bajaj Pulsar NS200. It gets a similar muscular fuel tank with the tank extensions. The tail-section along with the split grab rails also looks similar. The headlight design with LED DRLs gives out Carnage (from the Venom movie series) vibes and the graphics along with the paint job and the radiator shrouds also help in somewhat differentiating the NS400Z from the NS200 in the design department.
