Latest Updates on CBR500R
Honda has updated the CBR500R for 2022 with more premium brakes and suspension along with new CBR650R-inspired graphics. Check out our story for full details.
The supersport received its last design update back in 2016 with minor tweaks and an aggressive new LED headlight. For 2022, the design mostly remains unchanged but you get brighter LEDs and new graphics inspired by its elder sibling, the CBR650R. It continues to keep its digital negative-LCD instrument cluster which shows two tripmeters, an odometer, time, gear position and shift-up indicator. You also have hazard lights for safety.
Powering the CBR500R is a Euro 5-compliant 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that belts out 47.5PS at 8600rpm and 43Nm at 6500rpm. Its 6-speed transmission comes paired with a slip-and-assist clutch. Fuel tank capacity is rated at 17.1 litres. Honda claims to have tweaked ECU settings for a smoother throttle response and you also get a new radiator, claimed to be 100g lighter.
In terms of underpinnings, the 2022 CBR500R comes equipped with a 41mm Showa Balance Free Fork and a monoshock. Anchoring the bike are twin 296mm discs up front with dual-channel ABS as standard. The CBR’s 17-inch wheels come wrapped in 120/70-section front and 160/60-section rear tyres.
Expect the Honda CBR500R to be priced around Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom) if it ever makes it to India. And if it does, we expect to see at least two paint schemes on offer: black and red.
