Q. How is the maintenance and after how many kms it should get serviced - Compass?

My running for a Diesel 2 L Limited model is very low that is, below 10k km in 2 years. Service - every 15K km or one year. My first year service cost 9k and second year service cost 11k. So for a very low running it is very high per km cost. I went for the Brand value and am paying the cost. There was someone doing a 75000km service after three years of use. And mind you, this does not cover tyres, battery etc and any other repairs that may come in between. It was costing him 48k which included change of brake pads etc etc. One has to look at individual running and the running cost per km. Then establish whether it is worthwhile for the cost or you can afford to pay the higher cost for a bit of artificial value. Of course driving comfort is there. To ascertain this take a total km running of 50k, add 15k per year per 15000km per year and for the last 60k to 75k km take a cost of 50,000. (Of course without accident repairs or tyres and battery. Add these costs and divide by 75k km. then you come to the per km rate. Add to it the fuel cost at say 11 km to the litre. This gives you total per km running cost . Now compare with other vehicles. If you are doing an evaluation, this should help. You can load this by 10 to 15% for contingencies. Have I made it too confusing? The service interval is once in 12 months for normal use of around 12,000 km per year.
