• Q. I have purchased Nexon XZ+ (s) this week and in screen I can see mileage is just 8.5-9. Is it normal behaviour since the vehicle is new or will i get good mileage after first service?

The system shows the mileage of the car according to the average statistics of fuel consumption and it depends on several factors like, driving style, road traffic conditions, tyre pressure etc. Driving at a certain speed requires you to be in the optimum gear for that speed. If this practice is not followed, it results in lower fuel economy as the engine runs in higher revs on lower gears. The correct gear for every speed is different for every car. Rapid acceleration from a stop will always require more effort from your engine than if you accelerate it gradually. Moreover, maximize the use of the 5th gear at speeds of more than 60kmph in order to minimize the load on your engine. In order to maintain good fuel efficiency, remember to minimize braking. This is because it takes the engine a lot of power to move from a stopped position and accelerate forward. Where possible, step lightly on the brakes and try to keep to keep the car moving whenever possible. Frequent and unnecessary gear changes also affect fuel efficiency so optimize your gear shifts to conserve fuel. Try to minimize the time you spend with your engine on idle. Do not keep your engine on idle for more than two minutes at a time. Avoid driving with your foot resting on the clutch pedal as this may cause clutch slippage. Clutch slippage is when you depress the pedal and then release it in order to maintain a fixed position when on a steep slope. Doing so results in increased fuel consumption and also premature clutch wear. A car takes time to accustom - the Engine, Piston, Fuel Lines all takes time to lubricate and initial mileage will be low. It generally takes upto 800 to 1000 kms for your car started to offer a better mileage. While at around 4000 - 5000 kms distance when covered, mileage will be at its best and will stabilize which even gets better on oil change at 7500 - 10,000 kms.

Fill your tank to full and. reset both Trip A and Trip B you will get see the change in displayed mileage sometimes the system gets stuck between few digits. and your mileage will definitely increase after 1000-1500 km because new Engine takes time to set properly. If you don't believe I can show you pictures of my car xz+o petrol is showing 23.5 kmpl on highway

@ Muneeb | Yes, it will increase a bit post 1st servicing. I used to get around 8-9, I own Xza+s. It improved to around 12-13 now, hoping for further increase in the services ahead.(due for 2nd service now.)

I have the same automatic variant , before 3rd service mine car was showing average of 8-12 city - highway respectively, but after of 3rd service i thought it will give more average but shockingly it giving me the average of 5 . But on screen it shows the same average as before 8-12
