• Q. I am looking for a petrol powered Compass as my running is very low. I have heard that the automatic compass is not so good to drive due to the turbo lag and fuel efficiency is very low. I wanted to know about the petrol Compass with manual transmission. Is this good to drive? I am not bothered about features but driving performance is my priority. Can you advise on the petrol manual Compass?

I am using petrol automatic Jeep Compass. I have not noticed any objectionable turbo lag in my Compass. You have mentioned your running is very low. I presume it is only urban commute. In this case, turbo lag ceases to be a factor anyway due to traffic. If you value convenience of Automatic and don't mind paying the extra price, please test drive both automatic and manual variants and decide.

There is not much difference in driving characteristics or linearity between automatic and manual. None has a peppy or truly satisfying drive. In 2020 they plan to come with a new Petrol engine but therz no words yet about its drivability etc. Overall diesel is a better option .
