Q. Planning to buy Verna SX (petrol).But many have told us that the cost of maintenance is too high,mileage is around 10 kmpl. Is it true? If yes,what are the other options left? BUDGET-13 LAKHS PETROL CAR (Because we rarely use this car) MILEAGE-(> 15 KMPL) Please help me sort this out.. THANK YOU

As per your inputs you have chosen a C segment sedan. In C segment sedan *india* we have left with 3-4 options to choose Honda city, Toyota Yaris , Hyundai Verna and VW vento. However you may be owning this vehicle for Emotional value or Self fulfilling desire. On the same time you also prefer good specific fuel consumption ..In C segment sedan they give a fuel efficiency of 11 -13 kmpl max . Hence keeping a city ride all the vehicles are more or less in the same range absolutely.Hyundai Verna offers very good bundle of features in style, electronics, etc which are a combination better than City or Vento.Hence no issue it is a good buy always as you get best mix of all other sedans . However if you are very serious on Budget and features front i suggest in 3 types 1)Toyota Yaris where it has best class leading safety features from the base models. This fits your Budget . But in this segment City and Verna are almost equally sold in numbers but Honda leads with upper edge 2)You will get Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which has very good features , style and now has a face lift version two to be released. You may get older version ciaz at good discount now so please choose 3) You may Chose a compact SUV like Honda WRV petrol and Maruti vitara Brezza diesel which may cater to your specific fuel consumption issue also. So please always note with respect after sales service, cost of spares and high on reliability toyota is best . Then is Maruti Suzuki with good service back up. Honda is known for high reliability but spares are slightly costlier Hyundai has a very good network of after sales service and spares are slightly costler. I suggest to suit to your budget , service ,spares and sp fuel consumption aspects i suggest please go for a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz or Toyota Yaris.

For Sedan Petrols in that price range Mileage greater than 15 is not practical in city limits.. in long rides you can achieve that kind of mileage. My Current Car Honda city V-MT petrol (City rides: 12kmpl, long rides 18-20 kmpl) .. Had a verna Petrol previously. used to get just about 10kmpl in city rides.. but around 15-16 in long rides. May be Compact sedans can give you a better mileage.. or go for diesel models... Brother-in-Law got a S-Cross it is giving a mileage of around 24kmpl in long ride and around 18kmpl in short rides.

Petrol cars never require higher maintenance,average per km depends how u drive, it is not as low 10 km,unless u drive in 1st or second gear all the day in city
