Generally diesel vehicle is more efficient compared to its petrol version. ( more km per liter - about 5-8 km more than petrol version). In some countries diesel fuel is much cheaper than petrol due to subsidy. But diesel needs more frequent servicing ( every 5000Km) than petrol (every 10,000km. ) almost double. Spares needed for service is cheaper for diesel as spark plugs are required in diesel. Downside of diesel is, if it is mishandled or abused, it can get damaged ( like Rev at high rpm especially when you change down gear at high revs. without breaking. ) Also most diesel comes with turbo which another delicate and expensive spare part. So if it is to be used personally, and can take good care of it, diesel is my preference.
