After multiple teasers and spy shots, Maruti Suzuki will launch the next-gen Celerio on November 10. Bookings are underway at authorised dealerships and on the Maruti Suzuki Arena website for a token of Rs 11,000.
What can you expect from the 2021 model? Here's a ready reckoner:
Curvier Body
SSpy images and official teasers have confirmed that the Celerio will be bigger and curvier, moving away from the predecessor's boxy profile. Look closer, and you see a Swift-inspired chrome strip on the front grille, chunkier bumpers, droplet-styled headlights, and blacked-out alloy wheels.
Overhauled Cabin
It will feature an all-black cabin and a new AC vent design. But there are some unusual changes, such as the front power window switches below the infotainment system and the rear power window switches on the centre console.
More Tech
Additions to the 2021 Celerio include a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, and a MID borrowed from the Wagon R. It also now features a segment-first passive keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
Under The Hood
It will retain the current model’s 68PS 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and get a new, optional 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet Dual VVT petrol (with segment-first idle-start/stop technology). A 5-speed manual and an AMT will likely be the transmission options. A CNG option (paired with the 1-litre petrol) is on the cards as well.
Prices And Rivals
The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio is likely to be priced from Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and it'll rival the Hyundai Santro, Datsun GO, Tata Tiago and the Maruti WagonR.
