The current iteration of the Hyundai Tucson has been updated with a facelift in the European market. And even though exterior design changes are minor, there are some big updates for the premium midsize SUV, especially on the inside. So without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming India-bound SUV.
Up front, the facelifted Tucson features a more squared-out grille with revised inserts and the unique DRL setup. It’s flanked by a pair of LED headlights and below sits a mildly revised bumper. At the side, save for the new alloys, no changes have been made to the design. And even though Hyundai is yet to show the rear-end, the carmaker says it gets a revised bumper.
It’s on the insides where most of the work has been done by Hyundai. You get a brand new dashboard, which gets dual integrated screens housing the touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver’s display. Right below it areis the sleek AC vents; and the Korean marque, thankfully, has brought back some physical controls for the infotainment system and climate control.
The driver gets to grip on a new three-spoke steering wheel and the gear selector is now right behind it. And shifting focus to the lower central console, you get a wide armrest which also has a housing for the wireless phone charger.

In terms of features, most of the niceties from the existing Tucson should be carried forward such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, a powered tailgate, Bose sound system and keyless entry with push button start.

As for safety, it should continue to get six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and ADAS.
Technical specifications of the new Tucson are yet to come to light. But it should carry on with its existing options, which include petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. In India, the Tucson comes with a 156PS 2-litre petrol and 186PS 2-litre diesel engine, teamed with a 6-speed automatic and 8-speed automatic transmission respectively.
In India, you can expect the updated Hyundai Tucson to be launched sometime next year. We expect it to command a notable premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs 29.02 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Citroen C5 Aircross and Jeep Compass.
