Honda Elevate To Be Globally Unveiled Tomorrow: 5 Things To Know

The Elevate aims to put Honda back on the radar to establish the Japanese marque in the SUV space

Finally! It’s just a day left for the unveiling of the Honda Elevate, the Japanese marque’s new compact SUV that will go on sale in the Indian market first. It’s also after a long long time we’re seeing a brand new Honda that has been built from the ground up. And with the Elevate, the carmaker is looking to establish itself in the SUV segment.

So if you have had your eyes on the Honda Elevate, then here are 5 things you need to know ahead of its global reveal:

Exterior Design

The Honda Elevate’s design, based on spy shots and teasers, has an upright silhouette with plenty of rugged design touches such as the flared wheel arches. It has a large front grille that should give presence, flanked by a pair of LED headlamps. And at the rear, an earlier teaser hinted at the presence of connected tail lamps.

Interior Design

The Honda Elevate’s interior is still a mystery as the Japanese carmaker is yet to give a glimpse. But one can expect it to be layered with soft touch plastics on the dash top for an upmarket feel. It could also share certain bits with the City including the steering wheel and semi-digital instrument cluster.

Features On Board

The compact SUV space is a segment where features matter a lot. So we suspect the Elevate to come loaded to the gills with features such as automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, Honda’s lane watch camera on the left ORVM and keyless entry with push-button start.

Yes, the Elevate will get a sunroof, but it isn’t the panoramic unit most rivals offer.

On the safety front, one can expect multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control with hill start assist, rear parking sensors and the City’s ADAS safety suite.

Powertrain Options

The Honda Elevate is expected to get the City’s 121PS 1.5-litre petrol and 126PS 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engine options. A 6-speed manual should be offered with the petrol engine while a CVT will be teamed with both the powertrains. That said, the strong hybrid powertrain might not be on shelves right from day one and is expected to come at a later stage.

Sadly, the Honda Elevate will miss out on a diesel engine option, which is still quite popular in this segment.

Expected Price And Rivals

The Honda Elevate is expected to have a starting price of around the Rs 11 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will rival stalwarts such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross.
