The Tata Tigor CNG was first introduced in 2022. Even though the sub-4m sedan has not received a significant update in terms of design or features since 2020, the Tigor CNG has been upgraded with a host of segment-first technologies in the last year.
Here is a list of key advantages of the Tigor CNG over rivals like the Maruti Dzire CNG and Hyundai Aura CNG.
The latest update for the Tigor CNG has been the introduction of an automatic transmission option. It is one of the first cars in India to feature this convenience, alongside the Tata Tiago CNG. Tata has paired the 1.2-litre engine with a 5-speed AMT, and it still puts out 73.5 PS and 95 Nm when running on CNG.
In 2023, Tata launched its dual-cylinder technology with the Altroz iCNG. Instead of one large gas cylinder that occupies the entirety of the boot, it uses two smaller cylinders housed under the boot floor. This ensures the boot continues to remain usable with decent luggage space.

With the Tata Tigor CNG, you can start the vehicle's engine directly in CNG mode, a feature generally not seen in other CNG-kit equipped cars, including the Dzire CNG and the Aura CNG. This technology is exclusive to Tata's CNG models for now.
Usually, manufacturers shy away from offering CNG trims in higher end trims, but Tata is offering the Tigor CNG AMT in the higher-spec XZA and XZA+ variants while rivals don’t offer the CNG option in their top variants. This means that Tigor gets features like push-button start/stop, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rain sensing wipers, and an eight speaker sound system.
Both the Aura and the Dzire offer factory-fitted CNG-kit options in two variants. The Aura offers CNG configuration in its S and SX variants, while the Dzire allows you to configure CNG-kit with its VXI and ZXI variants. However, with the Tigor, the factory-fitted CNG kit is available not only in the lower-end XM variant but also in the top-spec XZ and XZ+ variants, a total of five variants.
