Toyota Glanza CNG Variants And Specifications Revealed

• Glanza CNG to come in three trims: S, G and V.
• Its 1.2-litre petrol engine puts out 77PS in CNG mode.
• Will be available only with a five-speed manual transmission.
• Likely to command Rs 1 lakh premium over equivalent petrol variants.

We had earlier reported that Toyota is working on a CNG option for the Glanza premium hatchback. Now, the model’s specifications and variant details have been revealed through the release of a Type Approval Certificate by the Delhi RTO, and this could mean its launch is right around the corner. This also means that the Glanza could become the first premium hatchback to get a CNG option in India. 

Toyota Glanza CNG: Variants And Specifications

Toyota will likely offer the CNG option in the Glanza’s top three trims: S, G and V. The base-spec ‘E’ grade will miss out on the CNG powertrain, but it’s good that Toyota will be offering the alternative fuel option in the top variant with all the bells and whistles.  

When it comes to its specifications, the Glanza CNG will use the same 1.2-litre Dual Jet petrol engine that will put out 77PS in CNG mode, a drop of 13PS from the petrol mode. The Glanza CNG will be offered only with a five-speed manual transmission. Its AMT option will be limited to the petrol-only variants. 

Toyota Glanza CNG: Price And Expected Launch  

Toyota could announce prices of the Glanza CNG during the festive season. We expect it to command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the Glanza S MT, which is currently priced at Rs 7.48 lakh (ex-showroom). 

While the Toyota Glanza CNG won’t have any direct competitors at launch, its pricing will put it bang in opposition to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG and the Tata Tigor CNG.
