This facelift is the first proper revision for the Nexon EV nameplate, ever since its 2020 debut

Coming off the back of the debut of the 2023 Nexon, the facelifted Tata Nexon EV has also broken cover and it follows the same treatment as its ICE counterpart, but with bespoke touches. The changes look more of a generational update than a mere facelift, so there’s a whole lot of dope to cover. Let’s dive right into it:

Just like the Nexon facelift, the 2023 Nexon EV sports a sharper and modern-looking facade, but without a grille and looks much more modern. It sports the same sleek DRLs, but they are now connected via a slim LED strip that runs across the bonnet and acts as a guide for your charging status. The main headlight setup is located down below, while the grille gets vertical slats.

The profile is unchanged, save for the new aerodynamic alloy wheels. The size of those rims is still the same: 16 inches.

The design at the rear are nearly identical to the ICE Nexon. It features the same X-shaped connected LED taillights, while the reversing lights are placed below in a sculpted housing. An EV-specific cue can be found in the Nexon.ev wordmark, which gets a blue finish for the ‘.ev’.

The exterior hue options for the Nexon EV facelift include Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Intensi - Teal and Flame Red. Overall, the styling is similar to the ICE-equipped Nexon, but it has to be said, the connected strip at the front and lack of a grille just ups the appeal of the sub-4m SUV.

The cabin layout of the Nexon EV facelift is similar to the ICE Nexon as well. It goes heavy on screens and digital elements that can be found in the two-spoke steering and HVAC controls in the central console. That control panel is touch-sensitive for the most part, but you do get physical knobs for the temperature and fan speed controls.

The list of features is largely mutual between the 2023 ICE- and EV-powered Nexons, however, the latter gets a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen. Other new highlights include a new fully digital 10.25-inch driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags. Kit like the ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, Harman sound system, sunroof, and connected car technology has been carried over as it is.

The safety kit of the Nexon EV now includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It also feature a blind spot monitor that pops up a diplay of a particular side while indicating.

The Nexon EV facelift gets a new Gen 2 e-motor that Tata says is lighter by 20kg. Like before, it gets a Medium and Long Range variant, which include a 30kWh battery with a 129PS e-motor (Medium Range) and 40.5kWh battery pack with a 145PS e-motor (Long Range). Tata has managed to extract a bit more range from the same as it now offers a ARAI-claimed range of 325km and 465km, respectively. It also gains fast charging compatibility, and features vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to load (V2L) capabilites.

The outgoing Tata Nexon EV was priced between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom). And considering the depth of the changes, we expect a significant price hike for the facelifted version. Once on sale, it’ll continue to be up against its one sole rival - the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
