2024 Mahindra XUV400 facelift spotted testing for the first time ever.
Exterior to get similar changes as the facelifted XUV300, with a few exclusive cues like the copper inlay for the grille
Cabin expected to be redesigned and feature a bigger floating touchscreen infotainment system a la the XUV300 facelift.
Could get new features like a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, and probably ADAS.
Likely to retain its existing powertrain options, possibly with minor improvements for eking out better range.
Mahindra is gearing up to update the lower end of its XUV range, by facelifting the XUV300 and XUV400. The former has been spotted on test multiple times, but this is the first time we’ve set eyes on the test mules of the electric XUV400. It seems to get a similar treatment as the XUV300, and here’s what we know about it so far:
The test mule reveals a flat bonnet and nose, giving the test mule a sharp front. The headlights seem to take inspiration from the XUV700, especially in the way the slim DRLs extend downwards from the main unit.
A copper coloured grille extending from the main headlight unit can also be seen. It is likely to be one of the styling elements that set it apart from the ICE-powered XUV300, as Mahindra EVs rely on copper finished inserts to differentiate from its fuel-powered models. An opening in the middle part of the air dam can also be seen, probably for its ADAS module. However, there is no confirmation on the XUV400 getting autonomous features just yet.
In profile, the new aero-styled 5-spoke alloys are visible, which were also seen on the facelifted XUV300’s test mules. It will likely retain a familiar side design as the mule can be seen with similar cuts, creases, and body contouring. The rear is yet to be papped, but going by the camouflaged XUV300’s spied images, the XUV400 could also be updated with a connected LED tail light setup.
The cabin of the XUV400 facelift is yet to be clicked, but if it gets a similar treatment as the XUV300 facelift, then you can expect a slightly redesigned dashboard with a floating touchscreen infotainment system that’s larger than the current model’s 7-inch unit. The placement and orientation of the AC vents could also be changed and it should get a few new features as well.
Those additions could include a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, ventilated seats, and probably certain ADAS equipment as well. Features like a sunroof, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, six airbags, and electronic stability control should be retained.
The current XUV400 gets a single 150 PS/310 Nm electric motor that can be paired with two battery packs: 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh. The claimed MIDC range stands at 375 km for the former and 456 km for the latter.

Now, we don’t expect any major revisions here, but Mahindra could tweak the same powertrain to make it more efficient than before, eking out more range on offer. The powertrain should also get fast-charging compatibility for quick top up times.

The Mahindra XUV400 facelift should arrive around the same time as the launch of the facelifted XUV300, which is expected sometime in early 2024. Mahindra could charge a small premium over the current prices, which begin from Rs 15.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted XUV400 will put up a tougher fight against the Tata Nexon EV, which was recently updated with a thorough facelift.
