Tata’s newest entrant in the Indian SUV space is the Curvv EV SUV-coupe. It is positioned above the Nexon EV and will take on MG’s ZS EV compact electric SUV. Both these SUVs are placed on the premium side of the mass market electric SUV space and are loaded to the brim with features, large battery packs and a premium cabin. In this article we take you through the specifications of both these SUVs to find out which one offers more value for your money:

MG ZS EV |
Price (ex-showroom) |
Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh |
Rs 18.98 lakh to Rs 25.23 lakh |
As seen in the table above, the MG ZS EV is the pricier SUV of the two and even though the prices of certain variants overlap, there is a difference of over Rs 3 lakh for the top-spec variants.
Also in the ZS EV, if you opt for the Essence Ivory trim which gets a special interior scheme theme, you will have to spend an additional Rs 21,000.
The Tata Curvv EV offers an SUV-coupe design with modern design elements such as connected LED headlights and tail lights. The MG ZS EV on the other hand, sports a conventional SUV design, but that too is not a bad thing as it also gets premium lighting elements like LED DRLs, LED headlights and LED tail lights.
But the Curvv EV goes a step ahead with its flush door handles, welcome/goodbye animations and sequential turn indicators, which look chic at night.
Let’s take a look at the dimensions:

Size-wise, things remain nearly identical in terms of length, width and height. However, the Curvv EV gets a point for its boot space which is larger by over 50 litres. The MG ZS EV does boast a higher wheelbase and height, which results in more room for the rear seat occupants.
Both the SUVs come with an upmarket cabin, but both go about it in different manners. While the Curvv EV’s cabin looks minimalist, the ZS EV’s interior feels chunky and busy in comparison. The dashboard of both the SUVS get soft touch materials and a dual-tone colour theme for the cabin. That being said the key attraction are the features and here is detailed look at what both the SUVs pack:

The Tata Curvv EV gets multiple powertrain options and offers the largest battery pack out of the two with a significantly longer claimed range, at least on paper. ZS EV on the other hand, produces more output and also has a faster 0-100 kmph sprint time, but that difference is negligible. .
Even the Curvv EV’s smaller 45kWh battery pack has a higher claimed range compared to the ZS EV. It also takes less time to charge via both AC and DC fast chargers.
A point to note is that the Curvv EV supports up to 70kW fast charging, while the ZS EV supports up to 50kW. In case you run out of battery, the Curvv EV would charge faster and save 20 minutes of your time, that is, if you can find yourself a suitable charger. For AC charging as well, the ZS EV takes more time to juice up the battery.
Both Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV are great mass-market EVs that try to replicate the formula of premium EVs at a relatively affordable price point. As seen above, both SUVs are well-packaged vehicles and you won’t go wrong if you pick either of them. However, if one out of the two had to be chosen, our pick on-paper would be the Tata Curvv EV.
Not only does it get a distinctive design, more features and a better claimed range, it offers all of that at a lower price tag. Things might change when we compare the two EVs in the real-world, so stay tuned for that!
Until then, let us know your thoughts as well, and which SUV you would pick? And why?
