Tata’s new dedicated EV platform will underpin the carmaker’s volume-based EV products, starting with the newly launched Punch EV
The new Tata Punch EV is underpinned by the carmaker’s brand new Acti.ev platform, an architecture that will underpin the brand’s volume-based electric models. In an interaction, Shailesh Chandra, MD (managing director), Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, gave us additional insights on what all models will be based on this new architecture.
These are the 5 cars that will use the Acti.ev platform:
Tata Punch EV
Price: Rs 10.99 lakh onwards (ex-showroom)
The Tata Punch EV is the first car to be based on the carmaker’s new EV-only platform. Apart from that, Tata has also given it distinctive styling, plentiful new features and two powertrain options with a claimed range of up to 421km. More details of the new Punch EV, including pricing can be found in our in-depth launch story.
Tata Curvv EV
Expected Launch: By Mid-2024
Expected Price: Rs 20 lakh onwards
The next model that will use this architecture is the Curvv EV, the carmaker’s first SUV coupe. The electric version was showcased as a concept back in 2022 and is expected to be launched by mid-2024. Testing of the Curvv EV is in full swing now and the model has been spotted multiple times. More details about the Curvv EV can be found here.
Tata Harrier EV
Expected Launch: By 2024-end
Expected Price: Rs 25 lakh onwards
The Tata Harrier EV was showcased at Auto Expo 2023 in concept form and the production model is expected to hit the markets by the end of 2024. One of the main talking points here could be the introduction of a dual motor setup, which the new architecture supports, giving it all-wheel drive capabilities. Fancy taking a closer look? Tata Sierra EV
Expected Launch: By Mid-2025
Expected Price: Rs 25 lakh onwards
One of the showstoppers at Auto Expo 2023, the Tata Sierra EV, will also be underpinned by this new architecture. That said, this model is expected to go on sale anytime in the first half of 2025. The rebirth of the popular nameplate will have styling touches harking back to its predecessor and you can take a closer look at it in this report.
Tata Altroz EV
Expected Launch: By End-2025
Expected Price: Rs 12 lakh onwards
And last but not the least will be the electric version of Tata’s premium hatchback, the Altroz EV. This car is also expected to launch in 2025 and our guess is that it could be introduced post the ICE model gets a facelift, which is overdue. Tata, in fact, showcased the Altroz EV back in 2020, but expect the final model to be quite different from what we saw back then.
