Maruti is ready to begin its EV journey with the e Vitara and its scheduled to arrive at the Auto Expo 2025.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is almost here. Scheduled to make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025, this is going to be an interesting mass-market EV. With its sharp design, impressive tech, and possible AWD powertrain, this EV sets an interesting stage for the mass-market EVs.
Here are 5 things, we know about the e Vitara:
Design
The e Vitara features a bold and futuristic design. Up front, sharp LED headlights with three-piece DRLs and a striking blacked-out bumper with fog lamps and rugged silver skid plates define its aggressive stance.
The side profile reveals 18-inch alloy wheels (or 19-inch wheels on the AWD variant), body cladding, and unique C-pillar-mounted rear door handles. At the rear, it gets sleek LED tail lights, a shark fin antenna, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
Interior
The cabin of the e Vitara features a dual-tone design with ‘squared out’ elements throughout the dashboard, including the AC vents. The highlight is the dual integrated screens that serve as the infotainment display and the digital driver’s display. A new two-spoke steering wheel is also seen, which we haven’t seen on any Maruti cars till now.
A 10.1-inch infotainment system is also visible, which is expected to be the Maruti Suzuki SmartPlay infotainment system with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Features
The feature list includes a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, wireless car charger, 360-degree camera, and connected car tech.
The e Vitara is also expected to introduce several firsts for Maruti Suzuki in India, including Level-2 ADAS. Other safety features include front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
Powertrain
The e Vitara marks Suzuki's debut in the EV space and is built on the all-new Heartect-e platform, developed in collaboration with Toyota. This skateboard-style platform is tailor-made for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), setting the foundation for future Suzuki and Toyota EVs. The Urban Cruiser EV is also based on the same platform and is also India-bound in 2025.
Globally, the e Vitara offers two battery options: a 49 kWh forward-wheel-drive (FWD) setup and a larger 61 kWh is available with both, FWD as well as an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version with Suzuki’s AllGrip-e system.

If the AWD variant comes to India, it could be equipped with dual motors generating 184 PS and 300 Nm of torque, making it the first mass-market AWD EV in the country. With an estimated range of over 500 km, it could prove to be a well-packaged EV in the mass-market segment.
Expected Price And Rivals
Expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the e Vitara could take on rivals like the soon to be launched Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and not to forget, its twin brother from another mother, i.e. the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, which is also expected to launch in 2025 . With local manufacturing and a focus on affordability, Maruti Suzuki is setting the stage for an aggressive entry into India’s EV market.
With its debut scheduled for the Auto Expo 2025, the e Vitara should be able to deliver Suzuki's trademark reliability with the innovation of an all-electric future. What do you think about Maruti Suzuki’s all-electric e Vitara? Let us know in the comments!
