The Mahindra XEV 9e was recently revealed alongside the BE 6e. Judging by both cars, it’s clear that the designers have taken their job very seriously, however the XEV 9e sports a slightly more conventional coupe-like design unlike the sharp and quirky styling seen in its sibling. The XEV 9e, a midsize SUV-coupe, is so fresh in design that it already gives luxury carmakers a run for their money and the features it offers.
The Mahindra XEV 9e is almost the size of a Tata Harrier but with a more authentic coupe-like design.
From the front, the XEV 9e looks futuristic with its body-coloured blanked-off grille. The connected lighting setup features inverted L-shaped DRLs joined by a sleek light bar, that accentuates the overall look with vertically stacked LED headlights and fog lamps housed in a blacked-out V-shaped enclosure below the DRLs.
The bonnet displays Mahindra's new butterfly-like infinity logo.
Moving to the profile, unlike the sharp lines of the BE 6e, the XEV 9e opts for smoother curves. The sloping roofline seamlessly transitions into the tailgate, creating a clean and elegant silhouette. Its sleek, sharply pointed windows are outlined with gloss black trim, while piano black body cladding extends to the pronounced wheel arches, providing a great contrast.
You can also see body-coloured ORVMs and flush-fitted door handles for the front door – the rear door? Well, you might have to keep searching for it initially as it's kept hidden somewhere near the window.
The SUV sits on newly styled 19-inch alloy wheels, with the option for larger 20-inch alloys.
At the rear, the design complements the front with a connected lighting setup featuring sleek LED tail lamps. However, the tailgate stands out with its chunky, block-like design that subtly tapers at the edges, giving it a robust character.
The XEV 9e is available in an impressive range of eight colour options, offering plenty of variety to suit personal tastes. Be sure to check out our detailed story for images of all the available shades!
Step inside, and the cabin feels premium and looks sophisticated. The interior features an Ivory White-themed upholstery, reminiscent of the Thar Roxx and XUV700, complemented by elegant grey trims for a refined look.
You get a two-spoke steering wheel adorned with an illuminated Mahindra logo.
Stretching across the dashboard is a massive 43-inch triple-display setup, catering to infotainment, driver assistance and the co-passenger’s entertainment needs.
The center console is thoughtfully designed, featuring a functional knob behind the gear lever. The console connects to the armrest, which includes ample storage space under it for added practicality.
In the rear, there are three individual headrests and a center armrest that comes with cupholders.
Rear AC vents provide ample cooling. The standout feature is the fixed glass roof. It features ambient illumination with 16 million hues that change dynamically based on your selection and sync perfectly with the car’s ambient lighting system.
As for features, besides the triple screen setup and illuminated glass roof, the XEV 9e is equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, dual-zone climate control, powered driver seat and ventilated front seats, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, automatic parking, cruise control, wireless phone charger, and connected car technology.
Passenger safety is taken care of by 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and level-2 ADAS.
The Mahindra XEV 9e offers two battery pack options, an impressive power output of up to 286 PS and 380 Nm of torque and a good amount of range.
