The variant-wise introductory prices of the MG Comet EV are finally out and they slide in under the Rs 10-lakh bracket. The ultra-compact EV comes in three variants – Pace, Play and Plush – and here is what you will get with each of its variants.

But before we get to its variant-wise features, let’s first glance at the technical details like the battery pack and the driving range.

17.3kWh |
Power |
42PS |
Torque |
110Nm |
Range (Claimed) |
230km |
Drivetrain |
Rear-wheel-drive (RWD) |
The Comet’s battery is smaller than even that of the Tiago EV (19.2kWh). A range of 230km might seem like too little, but is enough considering the car is made for your daily commutes. Also, while its rivals come with a front-wheel-drive system and are based on internal combustion engine (ICE) models, the Comet offers a rear-wheel drivetrain and is built on a dedicated EV platform.
Now let's get into the variant-wise feature distribution:
This is what the base-spec Play variant offers:
Halogen headlamps and tail lamps
Black cabin theme
Fabric upholstery
7-inch digital instrument cluster
Manual AC
3 USB charging ports
Power adjustable ORVMs
Dual front airbags
ABS with EBD
Reverse parking sensors
Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
3-point seatbelts for all passengers
ISOFIX child seat anchors
Basic audio system with Bluetooth music and calling
Steering-mounted controls
Two speakers
Keyless entry
Split folding rear seats (50:50)
The base-spec variant covers all the essentials like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. As the most affordable EV of the market, this cabin does not offer any of the highlight features of the Comet EV.

The mid-spec Play variant offers these features over the Pace variant:
LED Headlamps and Tail lamps
Connecting front and rear lights
Grey cabin theme
Leather wrapped steering wheel
10.25-inch instrument cluster
10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Three USB charging ports with fast charging
Voice commands
Connected car tech
The Play variant has almost everything that makes the Comet EV appealing and looks upmarket with the LED lighting front and rear. It adds a 10.25-inch touchscreen to the mix, connected car features and premium touches like the grey cabin and leatherette steering wheel cover. You still miss out on steering tilt adjustment, which is a key factor considering the driver’s seat is not height adjustable.
This is what you get with the top-spec Plush, over the Play variant:
Digital key with Bluetooth
Smart Start system
Tilt adjustable (up-down) steering wheel
Auto up function for driver window
Reverse parking camera
Approach unlock function
With the top-spec variant, you get some of the more geeky features as well as key equipment such as the rear camera and steering wheel adjustment.
The MG Comet EV is available with a host of personalisation options as well which may vary depending on the variant. MG has priced it from Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom) and it has entered the market taking on the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3.
