Audi Q6 e-tron showcases the brand's new interior design philosophy.
First model series based on the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and the new E3 electronics architecture
Audi’s signature split-screen setup with a lower screen for climate controls has been done away with.
Curved display comprises a 14.5-inch infotainment, 11.9-inch digital driver’s display and 10.9-inch passenger display.
Cabin also makes use of sustainable recycled materials.
Even though the full reveal of the Audi Q6 e-tron is some time away, the German marque has opened doors (literally) to the cabin of the electric SUV, which follows a new brand design philosophy. It is the first model to be developed on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and the new E3 electronics architecture.
The two combine together to create what Audi calls ‘a three-dimensional spatial architecture’, which is the basis of its new interior philosophy that promises more tech, function and better ergonomics.
Crisp lines behind and below the screens define the sharp interior, which seems to blend multiple materials for various surfaces. Just like every modern luxury vehicle, the dash is screen-heavy, but the highlight here is the fact that the infotainment screen is now in your line of sight.
Controls for cooling and heating have been integrated into the infotainment screen itself, eliminating the need of a separate screen lower down – a trend which a lot of existing Audi vehicles such as the Q7, Q8 and A8L follow. Sadly, it gets no physical controls for the climate control which would have made things easier. But there’s a hack: voice command-based functionality with the ‘Hey Audi’ command.

The 14.5-inch touchscreen is part of a curved display, which also houses the 11.9-inch digital driver’s display. Additionally, the passenger also gets a 10.9-inch display, integrated within the dashboard. The screen influx doesn’t end there as there’s also an optional heads-up display, which boasts augmented reality (AR).

A lot of attention to detail has gone into crafting this interior; so much so, that Audi has segregated different areas with different materials as per their functionality. For example, the areas of comfort stand out with large surfaces and soft materials, while operational and functional areas are finished in high-quality, high-gloss black hues. A few of the materials used are produced from recycled fabrics, which can be found on the dashboard and on the sports seats as well.
Other features include ambient lighting, which has a host of animation options, while you also get an option of a Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 22 speaker system.
The Audi Q6 e-tron is due to arrive in the global markets next year. And considering that India gets the flagship electric Q8 e-tron, the Q6 e-tron should also make its way to our shores sometime soon as well. It will go up against the BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz EQE.
