An incident was reported recently which involved the Chetak electric scooter on the 5th of November in Aurangabad. The scooter was found emitting smoke in the middle of the road which in-turn caught the public eye after photos and videos went viral on social media. Bajaj Auto addressed the issue immediately and moved the electric scooter to the nearby service station for further investigation.
Bajaj Auto issued a response on the initial findings of the incident. They claim that the source of the smoke was due to a plastic component and not because of the scooter’s battery or motor eliminating fire or thermal runaway. The manufacturer claims that the components used on the Bajaj Chetak are of the highest quality, which ensures the safety of the vehicle even in such conditions. Bajaj has sold over 3,00,000 Chetak electric scooters in India till date and their network includes over 3,800 and on-road service points.
Bajaj is all set to launch the new 2024 Chetak in India on the 20th of December 2024 and once launched, it will go against the likes of Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube, Ampere Nexus and the recently launched Vida V2.
