BMW Motorrad India had teased the CE 04 electric maxi scooter on social media recently. BMW Motorrad is calling the CE 04 its ‘mascot’ of the ‘silent revolution’ and has unveiled it at the BMW Motorrad Days – India chapter, which happened on December 10-11 in Delhi.
The CE 04 looks like a futuristic rendition of the BMW C 400 GT maxi scooter, something Judge Dredd would ride. Its 1,675mm wheelbase gives it a proper stretched out maxi scooter look. And given that it’s a BMW product, it is armed to the teeth with electronics like ABS, ASC and intelligent emergency call as standard. Meanwhile, DTC and ABS Pro are sold as optional extras.
In terms of power, the CE 04 is available in two versions– 11kW and 15kW (nominal) and 31kW and 23kW (peak power) – and both have a claimed top-speed of just 120kmph. Even the acceleration number isn’t too exciting with 0-50 kmph coming in at a claimed 2.6 seconds. As per our tests, the Ather 450X gen-3 clocked 0-40kmph in 3.03 seconds in Warp mode. Speaking of range, it claims a maximum of 130km, which too is underwhelming considering e-scoots like TVS iQube and Ola S1 are delivering more.

Being a BMW product, we were expecting more but this premium EV isn’t really bringing anything special to the table that we would have liked. Furthermore, in the UK it costs GBP 12,270 (roughly Rs 12.35 lakh), hence, just like the C 400 GT, expect it to be priced absurdly out of reach of the mass market.
