Three thousand battery swapping stations planned across 10 cities in the country

Bengaluru-based Bounce Infinity has announced its partnership with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to set up battery swapping stations across the country. The companies will start setting up the swap stations in a phased manner, starting with Bengaluru, and eventually have 3,000 stations installed in 10 cities in India.

Customers will be able to locate the nearest battery swap station using the Bounce app. Interestingly, these stations will support interoperable partners which include two and three-wheeled EVs of other makes.

Bharat Petroleum has already teamed up with Hero MotoCorp to set up charging stations in India. Last year, the petroleum giant had also announced its plans to convert 7,000 retail outlets into ‘Energy Stations’ which will have multiple fuelling options, including charging points for EVs, in the medium- to long-term. Similarly, Honda and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have signed an MoU to establish a charging network in India.

Bounce Infinity is the first brand in India to introduce the ‘Battery as a Service’ business model. While the subscription model does look interesting, our first ride review of the Bounce Infinity E1 explains whether it is indeed a smarter choice or not.

The Bounce Infinity E1 retails from Rs 45,099 onward (ex-showroom Delhi, without the battery). The company commenced deliveries April 18 onward and the e-scooter takes on the likes of the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube.
