Electric C3 will be based on the same localised version of the global CMP platform.
To be equipped with more features than the ICE C3.
C3 EV to rival Tata Tigor EV and upcoming sub-15 lakh MG EVs.
Prices likely to start around Rs 13 lakh.
Citroen’s first electric vehicle (EV) in India will be an all-electric hatchback based on the petrol-powered C3. According to sources in the know, the C3 EV will likely break cover in December 2022 and go on sale by April 2023. It’s likely to be priced at around Rs 13 lakh and will rival the Tata Tigor EV.
The C3 is based on a heavily localised version of Stellantis’ global modular CMP platform that’s EV-ready. Citroen hasn’t disclosed the upcoming C3 Electric’s specs, but we expect it’ll offer a single motor, two-wheel drive powertrain, possibly with multiple battery sizes.
Its battery should be good for around 300-350km of range and the electric hatch should be equipped with fast-charging capability. For reference, the Opel Corsa-e sold overseas is also based on the Stellantis CMP platform and has a 50kWh battery good for 362km of range in Europe.
We expect the all-electric C3 to offer a more comprehensive equipment package than its ICE sibling. The petrol-powered C3 lacks features such as a rear washer and wiper, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger and cruise control; but the electric C3’s list of features should be on a par with rivals. The C3’s 10-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will likely be seen on the EV as well.

The all-electric Citroen C3 has a ready rival, in the form of the Tata Tigor EV, but it’ll also face off against upcoming electric vehicles such as the Tata Altroz EV and the upcoming MG compact electric offering.
