The new e-scooter would retain most of the features from the S1

[UPDATE: Ola has launched the S1 Air in India. Full details in our launch story]

Ola Electric is all set to launch another variant of the S1 e-scooter this Diwali. Our source reveals that the EV maker will be launching a new e-scooter that will be more affordable than the S1. In fact, we also know that the upcoming product could be priced under Rs 80,000 which would make it as affordable as 110cc scooters like the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter.

Interestingly, as per our source, the upcoming electric scooter would retain most of the features of the S1, so things like smartphone connectivity and riding modes are expected. However, it is likely that this variant of the S1 could come with just Eco, Normal and Ride modes and skip the Sport and Hyper modes.

To keep the price low, Ola could use a smaller battery instead of the 3kWh unit seen on the S1. We expect the range to be around 100km. For reference, the claimed range on the TVS iQube S is 100km while the Ather 450X Gen 3 can clock 105km and the Bajaj Chetak can do 90km. Given that the Ola e-scooter would be available at a more affordable price, it would be interesting to see how it stacks up against its rivals.

So, after the S1 Pro and the S1, what would Ola Electric call its most affordable offering? S1 Lite? Or perhaps the S1 SE? Whatever the name would be, the debut of the Hero Vida e-scooter on October 7 is certainly going to shake things up.
