BYD is all set to launch the facelifted e6 MPV, dubbed as the eMax 7 in India tomorrow. Bookings for the electric MPV are already open and if you wanted an electric family mover with a usable range and plenty of features, then this might just be for you. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, let’s take a look at its design, interior, features, powertrain specifications and other rivals that you can consider.
The design of the eMax 7 is very familiar to the outgoing e6. That being said, the changes, albeit small, are enough to make the MPV look more modern and up to date. The fascia gets updates in the form of a tweaked bumper with a split design and the new LED headlights which get connected via a chrome strip with the BYD emblem on it.
The side profile is unchanged save for the new alloy wheels and the rear joins the bandwagon of connected lighting elements with its new connected LED tail light setup.
The interior of the eMax 7 is rather similar too, but has been made more modern via a few tweaks. While the dashboard design is similar, it now houses a bigger 12.8-inch infotainment system, which rotates like other BYD models. Apart from that, the dash has also been spruced up with fresh soft touch materials. The steering wheel is new and so are the controls and buttons on the central console, which now gets a conventional gear knob.
But the biggest change inside is the seating setup, which has moved on from a two-row configuration to three rows. Internationally, it is offered with either a 6-seater or a 7-seater layout, but the carmaker has teased the former on its official India website. More details on this front post its launch.
BYD loves features and the eMax 7 has been shown all the love with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, powered front seats with ventilation, a wireless phone charger and an electronically operated tailgate. Although, surprisingly, it still gets an analogue speed cluster with a digital display in the centre.

As for safety, it gets six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, as well as ADAS.
Despite being a facelift, BYD has gone and updated the powertrain of the e6, so its electric motors now put out 150 PS and 310 Nm (56 PS and 130 Nm more than before). Size of the battery pack is unchanged at 71.8 kWh and the setup has a NEDC-claimed range of 530 km.
Unlike other EVs which require a slow charging cycle after back to back DC fast charges to preserve the battery, you’ll be able to DC fast charge the eMax 7, without having to worry about any sort of range loss. More details on its home and fast charging information will be revealed tomorrow.
The outgoing model was priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), and we expect BYD to ask for a premium with this facelift.

The eMax 7 will go up against an all-electric alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto, while likely posing as an affordable alternative to the Kia Carnival.
